POD HD clipping and popping

The thread name says it all. I tried everything, EVERYTHING (changing buffer size, changing usb cables, changing recording pc, changing headphones, win7 tweaks...) i have found in this forum, also have read a troubleshooting for HD500 and HD Pro - nothing helped.. When i record a clean tone it pops, dirty tones are clipping and popping... I need your help!! ![]()
Windows 7 64 bit Home Basic SP1
Intel Core i7-2630QM CPU@2ghz
4 gb ram
Connected via USB cable to my laptop..
Have you seen this? http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-4282
I'd try doing these things first. The point about disabling your wireless adapter seems to be a common one. I know if I don't do that on my laptop, I get pops and clicks.
I tried that too...
I also tried to record tone with reduced send level, but i get a quiet tone with huge block of clipping and popping.
are you hearing clipping if you plug headphones directly into the unit?
i have identified a number of sources of clipping, but they are related mostly towards clipping internal to the Pod"
If i plug headphones and play - everything is clear and loud..
thanks for the link...
the only thing I can think is that your USB controller is lumped in with other interrupt requests. I believe laptops would be worse in this regard than desktops. also in a desktop you could add a usb pci card to virtually guarantee that USB port has its own IRQ.
are there other USB devices you can unplug?
try to disable any device in your system that you are not using, such as LAN adapters. The best place to do this is in firmware, but if that's not possible, you can do it in windows device manager.
see here:
guy had a conflict between the wireless adapter and wired adapter, and somehow that messed up his audio playback.

this stuff can get nasty...good luck
What DAW are you recording with?
Adobe Audition 3
also tried sony acid pro 7
As meam says: this kind of troubleshooting can be hairy. Couple of suggestions.
1) If there is another USB port on your laptop (ideally on a different edge) then try that in case there is an internal hub in use.
2) Try using running MSCONFIG.EXE and disabling all your startup programs and try again. If things are improved: start re-introducing programs until it breaks again and then take a look at what is causing the failure.
Ok, clipping eliminated by changing laptop AC adaptor.. phew.. but these annoying pops are still present!
Hi,
At this point we need to determine if the pops and clicks are an issue with the laptop itself. Do you have another computer you can try it with?
Thanks,
David
Thanks man, but i just changed pc adaptor and usb cable. Everything is clear and loud. All ok.![]()
