Practice Setup

Hi Everyone,

Totally new here.  I've got a question for you about my practice setup and how I might be able to change it into something a little more modern...

When I first started practicing in the early nineties, it was with a TASCAM cassette 4-track.  What I would do is just pop in a tape of the song I wanted to learn and pan both stereo channels hard left.  Then I would plug my guitar into the mixer and pan that hard right.  And, of course, the cassette had pitch control, which would let me get the tuning right, etc.

That's more or less the approach I'm still working with.  Music hard left / guitar hard right.

Nowadays my setup is a little more complicated.  I've got a Line 6 Pod XT with an FBV pedalboard.  The guitar goes into the Pod, and that goes into a little Behringer mixer.  Meanwhile, I've got my iMac line out also plugged into the Behringer mixer.  I play track through Amazing Slow Downer for pitch correction, and - you guessed it - the music is panned hard left / guitar hard right.

I'm trying to figure out a more elegant solution.  Something hopefully more software-based that will cut down on the number of wires (both power and connections.)  Can you give me your thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

K
