updating the firmware will bring it back to its original state preset-wise (provided to select no to saving presets) and include any features you may be missing

Use Line 6 Monkey to reinstall the latest firmware. When prompted, choose to replace the existing presets (i.e. choose not to keep them). The firmware update will install the factory presets and will also provide you with the new amps.

After the update, perform a GLobal Parameters reset and calibrate the pedal:

If you want to be able to restore any existing presets later, use HD500 Edit to save them before reinstalling the firmware.

Re: Factory presets on a HD500

As a brand new HD500 owner (3-days), I cannot than you enough for this post. When first opened and connected, everything from the documentation to the software says, "Update, update, update!" So the first thing i did was update it to the latest firmware, v1.43 as of last Saturday. During the update, it basically just asks 'do you want to keep the current presets or delete them'? There is no explanation, nothing to indicate in any way what I just learned in the post above this one. The vast majority of the presets are completely broken, of course.

When I get home I'll reflash the firmware and tell it to delete the current presets, do the reset, recalibrate the expression pedal, etc.. This will hopefully get me any new, cool stuff as well as working factory presets to learn from.

Thank you for your time. You  ROCK!
