Pod Farm 2.51 UX1 only dry sound

Hi,

I have installed Pod Farm 2.5 a while ago and there was so many bugs that I went back to the older version. Almost 6 months later I decided to try version 2.51 but still not usable on my computer.

The problem is that I don't have any effect applied to the signal. The only thing I get is the dry sound. The application is very very very slow and very unstable. For instance the app always crash when I close it. I have reinstalled windows 7 64bits and same problem. I have also read other threads online and applied the recommendations. I have...

- Tested all the USB ports

- Change my USB cable

- De-authorized my device and computer

- Uninstalled all the line6 product, Clean the registry, de-authorized and reinstalled.

- Updated windows and all my drivers

Gearbox works like a charm...

I have tested the UX1 on another windows 7 64bits that I have at home and everything is fine so it is not the UX1.

I basically spend the whole day on this and I am out of ideas.

Thanks,

Yannick

    Hey aquatarkus77,

Please make sure to apply all available Windows updates as well, especially anything related to C++.

-Open the Start Menu and select Windows Update.

-Click on "Get Updates for other Microsoft Products"

-The Windows Update screen should now appear as below. Click Check For Updates to scan for available updates.

-Click X Important Updates are available to see which updates are available.

-Ensure any updates referring to Microsoft Visual C++ are selected by checking their checkboxes. Then click Ok to return to the main update screen.

-Click Install Updates and follow all instructions (including restarts) provided by Windows to complete the update.

-Re-open Windows Update and repeat steps 6-8 until all updates for any Visual C++ packages installed on the system have been applied. Some of the updates must be applied sequentially, hence the necessity for repetition.

You may reference screen shots and written instructions for this process at the link below as well:

      http://line6.com/support/servlet/JiveServlet/download/2304-21-16000/Visual%20C%20plus%20Update.docx

      Hi Line6Don & aquatarkus77

I have Fix my it and find the problem.

I have tested all my USB 2.0 ports. This ports was from the Intel Z68 Chipset.

Now i tested my USB 3.0 ports with Etron EJ168 Chip and ..... IT WORKS.

I think this is a problem between the chip and the driver.

The complete software (PodFarm, Monkey, License Manager) run fast and stable (problem with the license check?)

And i can reproduce this problem.

Z68 Chip. Only dry sound and load time > 1m

Etron Chip. Normal sound and load time < 10 sec

    Hey aquatarkus77,

If it was working properly a few days ago and is now not working again, something about the system must have changed.

Is it possible that there was a unrelated software update on the computer? Did you start using a new piece of hardware? Did you start using a different USB port for your existing hardware?

Have you tried using a system restore to roll back to a few days ago when your system was working correctly?

Hate to bump a month old thread but...

      Same problem:

Effects only work intermittently.  Reloading a given tone sometimes restores function, but loading tones takes a good 30 seconds or so.  Often POD FARM will appear as though it has stopped responding while it loads tones (but usually recovers after a minute or two).

I am also on an i5, Z68 mobo.  This seems to be the common link between everyone with this problem.  It worked fine on my previous PC which was an AMD x64.

Re: Pod Farm 2.51 UX1 only dry sound

    Same issue here.

I have and Toneport UX2 and I've purchased PodFarm 2.51 std to have the VST plugins.

I get dry sound randomly from the standalone and the vst plugin in cubase (32bits) & studio one(64bits)

I hapens when openning podfarm (as standalone or vst) and/or when loading a preset.

Sometimes I manage to get the non-dry sound back by switching between presets. Often this doesn't help so I try unloading the plugin then reloading it (or restarting the standalone soft). Sometimes I have to redo it about 5 times befor it works.

I never had such problem with podfarm 1.x (nor grearbox), this started when I upgraded/purchased podfarm 2.5.

I havn't checked my USB chip model but as I mainly use the vst plug I doen't think there somthing to do with the toneport.

Useless to say how anoying this is when I open a project in my daw and have to check & fight with 5 instances of the vst podfarm (I record dry and load one vst per track to fiddle later with the amp sound).

A if this makes any difference I also own the triple deal model pack that I have enabled in my standard podfarm 2.5 version. Win is uptodate. Latest drivers, latest etc...

    My config: Dell XPS83000 - i7 2600 - 6Go RAM - Win7 x64

    Please line6 help!

    Any advice will be apreciated

Re: Pod Farm 2.51 UX1 only dry sound

hey guys i thought i would chime in here. i just had the same problem with my 2500k build. and i will tell you right now.

sandy bridge chipsets h67,p67,z68 wont work with your line 6 device. at least not the native usb ports.

you absolutely have to get another card. unless you want to wait for either intel or line 6 to update your drivers.

i bashed my head against a wall for a while, im also a certified computer tech (though not a hardware driver designer) so ill tell you the easiest and cheapest fix.

i got a usb 2.0 card from the best buy down the street with the VT6212L chip on it. it was 20$ and it instantly solved everything.

its the dynex 2 port model. they also have a 4 port that should work as well.

i know its likely not what you want to hear. but i promise you 98% chance it will fix your issue. as ALL sandy bridge systems use one of those three chipsets and of course their weird usb implementation.

ill check back to see if it fixed your issue.

      EDIT: for typo.

        Hi,

Have had related issues with a UX2, I'll just repost my results here if it helps.  Here's how I got on...

        USB ControllerPodFarm 2.51Reason 6.0.1 (build 1544)TH2 v2.1.9 Demo 64-bit
Asus P8Z68-V Pro onboard (both controllers)

        intermittent licensing, intermittent functionality

        audio OK

slow loading (due to licensing?), intermittent functionality

        audio OK

        audio OK

        No-name 4-port with VLI controller

        licensing OK

        no audio

licensing OK?, fast to load, effects appear to work OK

        no audio (capture device warning)

        no audio

        Transcend TS-PDU3 with NEC controller

        licensing OK

        audio OK

        licensing OK

        audio OK

        audio OK

So where I've put audio OK this means that the ADC/DAC function is working fine.  I think the issue with the audio processing is a licensing issue - I assume there's a convoluted license protection scheme merged with the software fx processing chain.

Hope this is of help to someone.

        Cheers,

        Dave

I had (hopefully it is a past problem) the same problem with my UX2. After reading the hint with the USB-ports I connected the device to the Renesas (NEC) chip controlled USB 3 ports of my Gigabyte GA P67A UD5 B3 and now everything is functioning again well.

I tested the standalone and the PlugIn of POD Farm 2.51 which both worked well.

I need to tell that the problems started with the install of the line6 licence manager...

          Cheers,

Re: Pod Farm 2.51 UX1 only dry sound

Hey there, I have the same issue on my windows 7 64bit,  i7 3930k.. I have a ASUS P9X79 and USB 3.0 ports.

I have a temporary fix tho, that might work for everyone, please report :

I go in ControlPanel / Hardware and Sound / Manage Audio Devices (under Sound) / Playback tab, choose Speakers (3-Line6 UX2) -> Properties, Advanced Tab. I select a format (tried 24 bit 48khz studio quality) and I press Test. I'll hear the sound coming from the UX2 and I see the level meters moving.

Now, I do that while I am in pod farm 2. As soon as I do this, I can select any tone and it loads instantly..

So I am pretty sure this can be fixed by Line6, because clearly, there's something wrong with the USB driver and not the system..

Btw, I run on a freshly installed windows 7 64bit and I have absolutely no problems with my USB devices, I also just have a USB mouse when I run pod farm 2..

Is it possible that by pressing Test in the sound properties, it initializes the bus correctly and then podfarm can correctly use the newly initialized usb device?

Is it possible that the device is reporting a USB configuration that is not correct but accepted by the driver?

Re: Pod Farm 2.51 UX1 only dry sound

    Hello all,

I recently updated my studio main PC to a Windows 7 x64 machine.  Previously I had Pod Farm 2.51 working on my XP machine and it worked flawlessly with a TonePort DI Gold.  When I moved the hardware and software over to my new Win 7 machine Pod Farm 2.51 stopped working and only output the dry guitar signal - no amps or effects were applied.  Following this thread I tried moving my USB connection from my USB 2 port to a USB 3 port and everything started working perfectly.

There has been some mention that the USB drivers might not be working with certain USB hardware.  My motherboard is a LGA1155: 2x 16X PCIe, 3 PCIe 1x, 2 PCI, dual channnel DDR3 1600, TI firewire.

So for a fix I'd suggest people try different USB ports on their computer to see if that works or get a secondary USB set of ports via PCI or other means.

This seems to be hit or miss on my system. Meaning that some of my presets play perfectly, BUT other amp modeling types do not. It will appear that they are working because the effects are working but the controls on the amp dont do anything, specifially the gain. The ones that I've noticed do not work are the Missisippi Criminal and the Angel P-Ball.

Re: Pod Farm 2.51 UX1 only dry sound

This has got to be a pod farm issue, and not USB related.

The past couple of months i've been using my PodStudio UX1 with Guitar Rig 5 completely perfect with no issues what so ever.

Today i decided to install podfarm again to try out some tones, since i didn't use podfarm in quite a while.

This is when the problems start jumping around.

First thing that happens is that the whole sound system froze when opening my DAW. Had to reconnect the interface.

Next try it worked, but apparantly my device wasn't authorized, even though i just authorized it..

After many attempts and finally getting into a authorized podfarm atlast, all i got was a dry signal, lol..

Tried everything, finally made it work, but minutes later.. only a dry signal again.

I have also tried every suggestion line6 has come up with, but with no success.

    Dear Line6.

    Fix your ****.

My ticket on this issue from *December* remains open.  I have nothing else useful to add, except that this problem will only grow as more users upgrade to the Intel i5/i7 family.

Re: Pod Farm 2.51 UX1 only dry sound

We have released a new Windows driver to fix this dry sound problem.

I would suggest that you use the Line 6 Uninstaller located at the location below to remove your currently installed Line 6 drivers:

      Windows 7/Vista  -  C:\Program Files(x86)\Line6\Tools -  Line6Uninstaller

      Windows XP -  C:\Program Files\Line6\Tools -  Line6Uninstaller

Make sure to disconnect any of your Line 6 USB devices prior to starting the uninstaller. Make sure to only check the boxes at the bottom of the list that are related to the Line 6 drivers, and proceed to uninstall them. Once they are removed, restart the computer. Upon restart download the latest Line 6 Window Drivers from the link below:

      Windows Drivers 4.2.5.4:

      http://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=4791

Make sure not to connect your Line 6 USB device until prompted to so at the end of the installation process. After connecting it, make sure and look towards the Windows system clock for a notification that Windows has detected your device and has successfully installed the drivers before moving forward. If you do not receive this notification message, make sure to try reconnecting the Line 6 hardware to each available USB port until you have exhausted all available USB ports.
