How do I boost my leads when using my amp's dirty channel...

whenever I use my amp's dirty channel then try to boost the volume with either the boost comp or my fulltone OCD, it doesn't boost the volume. only time it does is when i use the distortion on the M13. I've tried putting the ocd before the m13 and also after it and also through the loop. it barely boosts the volume. how do i set it up so it boosts it on my amp's dirty and clean channels?
Trying to boost the volume of a gain channel by putting a pedal before the input doesn't usually work too well. Because the signal is already saturated to begin with, adding more gain at the input will just make it more saturated. If your amp has an effects loop, that's probably the place where you want to look at adding a boost. Whether it be in the form of a clean boost pedal or one of the EQs from the M13. That would work for both your amp's clean and dirty channels.
So.. if I have my amp clean, and on pedal A, I use tube screamer for my dirty patch, whats the best effect in pedal B to boost my signal for a lead in the M9?
Have you tried the Boost Comp or Tube Comp models? You can use the Boost Comp as more of a clean boost by turning the compression and drive parameters down. On the Tube Comp model, you can turn the threshold down. You could also try some of the EQ models. It really depends on how flat you want the boost.
Ill try it tonight and let you know.
thanks!
