Question About using Pod Farm 2.5 With GX On More Than One Machine

So i have a Line 6 GX that i use on my desktop to do my recordings.
i also have a pretty handy tablet pc that has a core 2 duo 2.0ghz, 4GB ram, 500gb hdd etc. running windows 7
anyway my question is...
i would like to be able to take my guitar and GX with me on trips and have a mobile recording setup while i head over to do some mixes and then copy it over to the desktop for serious work and adding samples and stuff.
can i use the software on my laptop computer without having to authorize the laptop as long as my GX is connected to it? or would this not work?
i seem to remember having problems where even with my GX connected line 6 pod farm 2.51 wouldnt work unless BOTH the GX and that particular computer was authorized.
i also seem to remember reading somwhere on this forum that as long as the GX is connected both the stand alone and the plugin should work just fine.
could someone with experience on this chime in for me? i really am trying to avoid the whole deauth/reauth thing as i will run out of authorizations really really fast.
anyway aside from that
i have the triple pack installed in the gx as well. its crucial that this also work as i am lost without my metal amp models.
so to summarize.
2 computers
need VST to work
need model packs to work.
will have gx connected to the laptop when im using pod farm/VST
thanks guys!
You can use POD Farm on your laptop without having to authorize the laptop as long as your GX is connected to it.
I would suggest that you follow our POD Studio setup video tutorial on each one of your computers to assist you with getting started with your Line 6 Audio interface:
http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-2499
You can watch the video and use the download links below to get the latest software to go with your POD Studio. First make sure to download and install the latest Line 6 drivers for your operating system:
Windows Drivers 4.2.5.1:
http://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=4399
Once the drivers are installed you will need to install the Line 6 Monkey application from the links below:
Windows Line 6 Monkey 1.51:
http://line6.com/getrelease?rid=4618
Once Line 6 Monkey is installed, remove any additional unnecessary USB and firmware devices from your computer when troubleshooting this issue. Make sure to connect it directly to a USB port and not a USB hub, extension, or keyboard of any kind, preferably connect it to a USB port on the rear of computer. Try using additional USB cables and every USB port available until you are able to launch Line 6 Monkey and detect the device.
After Launching Line 6 Monkey apply any updates that are available until you have a green check next to each component.
Next close all open applications and use the License Manager software to de-authorize and re-authorize your GX. Make sure to remove the information when prompted to, and then install again when prompted to, this will ensure that you reinstall all of your available Line 6 assets from your account into your GX. You will only need to do this one time on one of the computers.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
