pedals/stompboxes

hopefully someone can help me.

I have used some pedals/stomboxes in the past, but have sold them. I am now using my HD150 and am curious as to whether or not I can use these pedals ( i.e., Proco RAT 2, holy grail) for the exact sound I want. I find it difficult that I need to change an entire channel when I really only want to add an effect to my sound.

in a nutshell

1) is there a way to set my fbv express switchboard to various effects that I can switch on and off? (for example have the ability to turn on/off effects simultaneously without changing the chanel entirely)

2) by pluggin in pedals/stompboxes (not made by line 6) will the quality still be there?

    1) No, you cannot use the Express that way, butyou could upgrade to a Shortboard to do this.

    2) Yes, but  note that if you are using a channel preset with distortion, using an external distortion pedal may notgive good (or sometimes noticeable) results.  In general using stompboxes in the guitar-to-amp chain works fine if you use a clean amp channel sound.
