Based on the troubleshooting steps you have tried so far, unfortunately it seems as though there is problem with the hardware of the UX1.
If the master output knob seems to give you signal when it is all the way up or creates staic when you adjust, the problem could potentially be with the volume pot itself. Have you tried using a different output to see if it is related to the output jacks? If you are using headphone out, try the analog outputs to a amp or home stereo of some kind to see if the analog outputs give you any difference.
If you haven't already, make sure to also try multiple USB cables and all available USB ports on both computers to see if you receive any other results.
Let me know if you get any different results with the suggestions I prodived to you.

I appreciate the reply and help!
Unfortunately, the problem happens reguardless if the audio is being outputted to speakers or headphones.
The only possibility I could come up with as to why this is happening, is because I often unplug speakers that are set to a loud volume, resulting in loud static noises and booms. Could something like this potentially fry the UX1 causing damage and problems like I've experienced?

Unplugging and replugging speakers to the outputs on the UX1 will not damage the unit. If the static occurs without any audio being output, then it sounds like a problem with the master volume pot itself.
Unfortunately due to the complex nature of the internal components of the UX1, it is not able to be repaired. If the unit is still in warranty you can request an RMA using the information at the link below:
