Old version of Riffworks not activating

Admittedly I purchased my Line 6 RiffWorks Guitar Port almost 9 years ago. I recently loaded the Line 6 software via CD onto my desktop. The CD says "Line 6 Guitar Port Version 2.5 CD Rev.K" at the top but then says "Sonoma Wireworks, RiffWorks version 1.0" on the right hand side of the CD. I can open guitar port and Riffworks, however Riffworks fails to activate and thus i cant record anything (the only reason I purchased this device). I've been reading many posts that all say to try something different. It doesnt appear anyone but a Line 6 representative can give me an absolute answer. Can someone from Line 6 please explain how I can activate this software and potentially upgrade to the latest version. Thanks.

Hi. Unfortunately, none of that software (Riffworks 1, GuitarPort) is supported by Windows 7. GuitarPort software was replaced by Gearbox 3.72, which is Windows 7 compatible and free to downlaod at http://line6.com/software/. Sonoma Wire Works publishes Riffworks, and offers Riffworks T4 for free on their web site.
The Line 6 Edition of Riffworks is obsolete since latest versions of Riffworks are fully Line 6 compatible.
The free version can be downloaded here:
http://www.sonomawireworks.com/T4/
The Standard version is not free:

... but a deep discount is available for Line 6 Edition owners:
