How to set up the vocoder (talkbox) on a pod x3 live?

I cannot get the vocoder to work, I have tries plugging the mic into the aux and the mic input and played around with different input settings, but sometimes I can just here the dry mic sound with the guitar and sometimes no mic sound at all.

 

My two main questions are:

 

How should I wire it up?

 

What setting have people used to get it working? Ideally I am looking for the Bon Jovi effect on Living on a prayer.

    Connect your dynamic (not condenser) mic to the X3L Mic input. Assign the Vocoder fx to your Tone and set the Tone's Input to your guitar. You do not need to set any input to Mic - this is done automatically when you use the Vocoder. Now when you play your guitar the X3L will accept input from the mic and vary the tone according to the Vocoder settings. You may need to adjust the Mic Trim knob on the back of the X3L.
