Tremolo and a midi out for a Variax 300

Is there a way to get a tremolo for my Variax 300?

I have also heard there is a way to hook up the RJ45 jack on the Variax's

for connection to a midi synth. Is there a product out there that will do this?

Could be done, not sure it would be worth it...

If I were trying to do this I would probably buy a Tune-o-matic piezo bridge and a Bigsby tremolo, it would be the fast and easy way.

Or maybe look on ebay for a used V600 trem body that someone stripped the guts from for a transplant, should be able to find one cheap.

Otherwise you could cut the body the same as a V600 and add a piezo strat style trem. It would kind of be a lot of work.

Never heard of this and it seems unlikely but I am very interested if it is true.

A tremolo on a variax 300?. The smallest surface mount tremolo and least intrusive to your Variax 300 that I know about is the $100 Bigsby B5, which would be a tight fit, however that's not the problem. For the existing piezo pickup bridge setup to work, the strings must pass through the body to create a positive piezo pickup to string contact. So if you could successfully mount the B5 to the 300, you still might run into pickup trouble when passing the strings over the back of the 300's bridge plate flange and under the B5's tailpiece roller, resulting in poor piezo/string contact. Where there's a lot of will, there's a way, and most likely at your expense. The Variax 300 VDI (J45) cable connection to a MIDI synth ?. I do not know of a 3rd party interface device. The signal that passes through the VDI (J45) cable to and from your Variax and other line 6 enabled devices most likely use their own unique digital communications protocol. Unless your an electronics guru and hacker extraordinaire, you might be out of luck. keep searching and maybe some helpful information could turn up. I myself, would be very interested in harnessing those capabilities if its possible.

I put a trem in my variax 300, enough room for strat or variax 600 type trem.  any good luthier can do it.  I did it myself with a wood router and a drill.  works great.  was going to sell the 300, now i can stop playing it.

graphtech have some good info about midi hook up for variax on thier website.
