Please help me quickly troubleshoot HD PRO and FBV mkII

Hi all,
I have just recently purchased HD Pro and FBV MkII footcontroller, my first Line 6 products ever! (Big step from a bewildering array of stomp boxes)
But I have some issues:
The HD Pro appears to work fine on it's own, The Edit software works and I can flick through patches etc, sounds great!
I plug the FBV in via the Cat5 cable and turn on the unit, the FBV does not even power on.
After some fooling about (checking different cables, updating firmware, no joy) I assume the FBV is faulty and send it back for replacement.
Just got the new one and I plug it in, and it powers up when the HD Pro is on. Great! But...
The FBV screen just says 'FBV SB MKII' on the screen permenantly, I can't get any of the switches to function, nothing else lights up ever, the tuner doesn't work, nothing, nada, it just sits there on the same display and that's it.
Is there something I'm missing or should I now assume the HD PRO it's self is faulty?
I'm off on a one month tour very soon and I dearly want to use the HD Pro (that's why I bought it!) but it's not looking good at this stage which is very disapointing.
Any help much appreaciated.
Aaron
Basically all I'm asking is: If I fire up the HD Pro with The FBV MKII conected, should it just work straight away? Like the foot switches clicking on and off (lighting up) and the tuner button working? Because mine does none of that.
Is there really no one out there with a HD Pro and a FBV MKII that can tell me if they just work out of the box or not?
I have the HD desktop and bought the MKII board a few months ago. After reading the instructions the first thing I did with it out of the box was to connect it to my computer via USB, run the Monkey and make sure the flash memory, etc. was up to date. After everything checked out fine I plugged it into the Pod and it worked like it should.
I would recommend that you do the same if you haven't already.
they should work out of the box...
you might try shining a light into both plugins check for bent pins or metal debris....
also try a different cat5 network cable... any one will work (as long as its standard and not crossover wired!)
the settings that phxwebdv alluded to should only apply if you have the express version...
Oh, whoops. For some reason I read that as the "Express" version. Ah well, I'll leave my reply up anyhow.
I have the mkII, and had similar issues... until I forced myself to read the "System Setup" section of the Advanced User's Guide. If you're like me, you hate technical manuals, but I'd encourage you to bite the bullet and at least read this section of the manual. That aside, let's try to fix your issue...
1. As varmint said, make sure you've got all the latest firmware, updates, etc. Let Monkey do this for you (assuming you've first created your account, registered your HD Pro, and are all set in that department).
2. Once all your software is up-to-date, then configure your HD Pro's settings to work with the Mk II. Here's how...
(I'm not at home in front of my HD Pro right now, so I'm basically working from memory and reading from section B1 of the Advanced Users Guide here)
2a. Hold the "View" button to enter Setup/Utilities
2b. On Setup page 1/10 (that's page 1 of 10), use the "1" knob to ensure "FS MODE" is set to "ABCD"
2c. On Setup page 2/10 use the "4" knob to ensure FBV Express is set to "On"
Exit setup and enjoy your new MkII.
Let me know if that doesn't help, and I'll double-check myself tonight when I get home.
Thanks Guys!
I've sent back my HD Pro for replacement.
I tried everything people suggested.
Took a lot of convincing the shop that I thought it was at fault.
Let's hope I'm right......
Will let you know.
UPDATE:
New HD PRO arrived and guess what?
It works perfectly!
Never had a high end unit faulty on deliver before so took a while to suspect it.
Anyway, it ends well. Happy. ![]()
