Suggestions for acoustic presets?

For what it's worth, I plugged "acoustic" into search without much success. I know a lot depends on the guitar I'm using (assume Strat for this question) but can anyone suggest ideal settings for an acoustic sound on my Spider IV 75? Most of the programmed presets seem to lean towards metal, heavy orck, etc. Thanks for any ideas/suggestions folks.

Line 6 does not have any acoustic simulations in their presets and I really don't think you can get one that will truly be satisfactory.  I tried a few that were in the customtones.com site but they really were not close.

Best thing you can do is go for a 'clean red' manual setting, then take some treble out, add some mid and bass with maybe a touch of reverb.

I don't think Line 6 has neglected acoustic players/presets at all. In fact, quite the opposite.

I think what they have done is acknowledged that you won't really get a good, consistent acoustic sound using any arbitrary electric guitar. The guitar itself makes such a difference that a general preset is pretty much useless. And if you want a good acoustic sound you need to start with an acoustic guitr (or a good model of one). So they have developed two very good approaches:
        - a number of presets designed to accept an acoustic (not electric) guitar as input

        - a number of excellent good acoustic guitar models  in their Variax guitars (very recently updated in the JTV series)

btw, if I want a good electric guitar sound I don't expect to get it using an acoustic guitar, either. You've got to start with the right basic instrument.

Silverhead has good points - use the appropriate tool for the job!  Wish I could afford a Variax!

I have plugged my acoustic into my Spider IV 75 and then created new sound patches for it, as most of the presets are for electric/metal, etc.  I start with a clean red, add some drive (boosts the volume and gives some warmth), adjust the tone - as I'm using a dreadnought I dial out some bass, then can do various things like adding a little chorus or flange, or reverb or delay.

You can certainly get some interesting tones from an acoustic through your Spider!  As long as you keep the gain/volume in control for feedback issues, you can use any of the presets (or create your own).  I found switching to the Comfortably Numb lead preset with my acoustic gives a pretty interesting take on this psychedelic rock song!   You can certainly dial in more distortion or crunch to get a 'less acoustic' sound, and the great thing about the Spider (assuming you have an FBV controller) is you can switch from one sound to the next quickly, as long as you have them programmed into the User Presets on your amp.
