External speaker configuration, internal speakers muted or not

I think this reply is a little ambiguous,
Q: Do the 112 and 212 combos support external speaker cabinets? If so, will the external cabs mute the internal speakers of the SV?
A: Yes, the Spider Valve supports the use of additional cabinets. Please ensure that the ohm load is correct to avoid damaging your amplifier.
OK but what happens when you connect an additional cabinet?
Please clarify before I buy.
Do the internal speakers become muted, so for example connectiing it to an additional 2x12 cab would make a 4x12 equivalent, or only what the additional external cabinet is as the Spider speakers are muted.
The answer is NO, they do NOT become muted. But, you will need to change to the "B" output if you are using another cab in configuration with the internal speaker. Just make sure the ohms match. DO NOT plug something into the "A" tap and "B" tap at the same time.
SPEAKER OUTPUT "A"
One 8ohm speaker/cab
SPEAKER OUTPUT "B"
One 4ohm speaker/cab or two 8ohm speakers/cabs

The SV 112 has a single 8 ohm internal speaker that you plug into speaker output jack "A"
If you want to use a 4 ohm external speaker cabinet, you need to unplug the internal speaker and plug the external speaker into output jack "B"
If you want to use the internal speaker and an 8 ohm external speaker, you need to plug the internal speaker into one of the "B" output jacks and the external speaker into the other "B" output jacks.
There is no muting function associated with the SV 112. You decide which speakers make sound based on which speakers are plugged in. And, you always need to have a speaker properly plugged in any time that the amp is on.

So just to prove I have been listening, by swapping connections at A +B around I can use the two internal 12" speakers and connect an additional two 12" speakers for an equivalent 4x12 cabinet sound. (providing I match the required ohms values)
Easy as.
Yes, as long as the cab you are hooking up is rated at 8ohms, it could be a 2x12 or a 4x12. The two internal speakers are an 8ohm load so the next cab/speaker, has to be 8ohms. Plug BOTH into the "B" tap on the amp and crank it up!! ![]()
