FBV Mll still not working correctly with Pod HD desktop

I just recived a repacment FBV MKll from Line 6 and still have the problems below.
The HD works fine with the FBV shortboard.
I am not the only one having this very same problem.
When in looper mode:
1) I can only toggle on. I can't toggle off. If I hit play, and hit play again, the loop playback does not stop. same with record: if I hit record once, it starts recording, but hitting record again does not stop recording.
However...
2) If I enable half speed or reverse, then I can toggle play on and off. also, I can hit record to start recording, and hit record again to stop recording and start playback. But if I dub in, I can't dub out. And I still can't toggle half speed or reverse, I can only enable.
I've tried switching cables and resetting the global parameters, but that doesn't fix it.
Is there anything I can do in the Line 6 FBV Control software to fix this?
Hi,
Try reflashing the POD HD and Express pedal to make sure this is not software related:

Also, try a different Cat5 cable.
Thanks,

Thanks
I tried the above with out luck.
At this point I will just get used to the limited use of the looper with the FVB MKll.
Bill
that sounds like a bug to me... I've got a bean and an FBV MKII Shortboard, so I will test this out and let you know if I have the same problem.
Cheers
Rowbi
I have a MKII shortboard and looper works just fine...My SB does have the current firmware installed on it...
make sure the HD Bean isn't in FBV Express Mode...That is all I can really think of...
My HD Bean also works great with the MK1 Shortboard...I actually prefer that one because of the display...
Thanks Rowbi!

i tested 1 and 2 and they work as they should do with my hd bean and FBV MKII shortboard. if you've changed the pedal and the cable, and reset global params, and installed the latest firmware/flash, and swapped out the cable and pedal... then it's perhaps time to have the POD serviced..??
but just another thought, does the same happen in every patch? is this a corrupt preset that's causing this?
to reset globals I think you hold 1 side of the 4 way directional pad while booting up the POD. search the forum for how to do that as I dont know if anything bad will happen if you do the wrong direction.
as far as FBV control, that's only when using the pedal as a midi controller while connected to your PC using USB. when controlling the bean, the bean is in control of what the buttons/foot switches on the FBV MKII SB do to it, and not the pedal as such.
Rowbi
Thanks Rowbi!
My guess is the POD need service next.
Its just I need it for work and will wait till I have time off to send it in.
Thanks for your help!
Bill
ok no worries. just make sure you go through all the above tips before sending it in. also I suggest when you send it in that you ask if you can send in the whole rig, with the pedal and cable to make sure they test it with your whole rig.
Please let us know how it turns out when you get it serviced.
Hope this all helped
Rowbi
Yes it works with the shortboard just fine. The problem here is with the Epress MKll.
The Express MK ll is the problem. Sorry I did not make that clear.
Thanks Bill
Hey baranger1,
I agree with Rowbi, you might want to try resetting the global setting by powering the unit on holding the Left directional button, keep in mind you will not see and indication of this being completed.
Try it with all presets, try it with new presets created from scratch to see if the problem is based of a corrupted preset. If you reinstalled the flash memory but kept your previous presets there could possibly be an error with those presets.
If after trying all these suggestions, you are still experiencing this problem, make sure to take both your HD and your FBV to the service center so that they can trouble shoot your rig. They might not be able to reproduce the problem using there in house FBV pedal.
baranger,
I was able to reproduce the problem that you are experiencing and have logged a bug for this problem. We hope to see this fixed in a future update.

Hi,
I just bought a FBV Express MKII in order to extend my Pod HD Desktop functionnalities (especially Looper which is not convenient without floor board).
All is up to date thanks to Line 6 Monkey.
Anyway, I got the same issue than other guys. Looper mode is not functionning properly.
While A B C D buttons are functionning on the Pod HD Desktop, same buttons on the FBV Express are not responding.
So I can start recording but not stop. In a same way I can start loop play but not stop ... same issue with Half Speed function and so on.
Could someone from Line 6 give us informations about this issue ? (Reported during 2011 summer, and still not solved even with new 2.02 firmware)
Please !
Note for forum admins : This question is no more supposedly solved, issue is still there and we have no answers.
Unfortunately this critical bug has not been fixed even after 8 months.
Why is it taking so long to fix?
Users still can't use the looper mode as advertised with POD HD bean and FBV Express II.
If this bug happened inside the HD500 I think it would be fixed ASAP because too many would complain.
Here is a thread I started about it:

Line6Perry quote, August 15, 2011:
"The problem is not a hardware issue with the FBV Express MKII. It would appear to a be a bug in the POD HD Bean's current internal operating system software.
We've logged a bug for this issue for software to investigate and respond accordingly. No ETA is available at this point, but we do apologize for the inconvenience. The only solution would have to come in a bug fix of a potential future OS/firmware update via Monkey."
Exactly. First and foremost fix existing bugs, then add the new ones features. ![]()
I purchased this pedalboard mostly to control looping, wish I had checked this forum beforehand!
One more bug (minor one) is when you press ^ or v button on the bean to switch banks then press A-B-C-D buttons on the bean, you switch between presets in the next/previous bank. When you press ^ or v button on the bean, then press A-B-C-D on the pedalboard, you will return to the last used preset no matter what you've just pressed. (ABCD is set in POD config, all firware is most recent one).
Can't believe these bugs still don't get addressed after 6+ months when they were reported.
For sure. I decided to open a support ticket as the product (FBV Express or Pod HD) is not functionning a described in use manual.
This is clearly an issue and most of all identified since almost one year.
I feel support for Pod HD Desktop is really not so important for Line 6 as for HD500 ... hope they will make me wrong.
Anyway please all of concerned people reply to this thread in order to make the problem visible for Line 6 support.
Is it best to click on the "contact technical support" to get a support ticket?
Yes, the most format way to contact Line 6 is the support ticket.
However, the forum allow us to communicate with openness so that others customers can express themselves and hopefully give our request more weight to Line 6 guys.
To be honest, I'm still amazed that a so basic issue is not solved 1 year after and most of all considering new fimrware is a major evolution (From 1.43 to 2.02).
At this time no reply from Line 6 regarding the support ticket ... any news from your side guys ?
Hello Guys,
Here is the reply from Line 6 for my ticket :
"We're sorry you've experienced this bug. I have taken this up with our Engineering department
to find when it will be fixed in an update after waiting so long.
Unfortunately, any refund would have to come from your retailer. Line6Tony"
Ticket Status = closed
The support ticket is closed, but I'm still without any real solution or schedule for an eventual update ...
Damn, I just bought this item brand new at Thomann. I'm very disapointed by the poor quality of the reply.
Do we have to wait one additional year to get a real solution ?
you just joined the conversation 2 days ago... why not just go get the shortboard instead, if it serves your needs and the express doesn't... it only makes sense.
not saying the problem isn't real... or shouldn't be fixed... but the path forward in our current reality is pretty clear.
No, it's not the "path forward", at least if Line 6 cares to keep every customer. Shortboard is bigger in size and costs more $$$, it's pretty, umm, incorrect to tell someone "go and buy more expensive unit" instead of just fixing this bug in timely fashion. As we have already paid for this functionality, you see. In return we won't ask technicians to pay us for beta testing their firmware, that should be enough ![]()
P.S. Another true path forward would be free replacement of FBV Express MkII with FBV Shortboard MkII through all retail shops carrying Line 6 products. Mwahaha.
Nah, just dreaming... ![]()
Hello 'TheRealZap',
I'm very sorry, but I really don't understand what you mean, especillay when you're saying 'it only make sense'.
Please let me explain my point of view :
"you just joined the conversation 2 days ago..."
=> 1 : That's right, I just bought my FBV Express MKII at Thomann 1 week ago. Is there any problem with that ?
=> 2 : Does the reply date as anything to do with the fact that this problem is in fact 1 year old ?
"why not just go get the shortboard instead, if it serves your needs and the express doesn't"
=> 1 : Looper Mode Control is clearly an advertised function of FBV Express MKII, please refer to Pod HD user manual (Appendix B - Section B-9). This is not a specific function of FBV Shortboard. Am I wrong ? Should I guessed the opposite before purchasing ?
=> 2 : My needs (size, functions and price) are corresponding to FBV Express and not for the 200€ Big Shortboard.
=> 3 : I already purchased the FBV Express, what is your advice ? To return it or sell it in order to buy something which is twice more expensive, to big for me and all that because of a bug and most of all a non conformity to user manuel and advertisement ?
"not saying the problem isn't real... or shouldn't be fixed... but the path forward in our current reality is pretty clear."
=> 1 : I'm sorry, but that is not 'pretty clear' for me, perhaps at least for you.
Please, as a customer I'm sharing my disapointment - the most clearly as I can -, and sincerely I feel your reply is quite disrespectfull to me. No offense.

i agree the problem needs to be corrected....
my point about your recent purchase was that the problem has not existed for you.... for a year...
and you have the option of an exchange that has long passed for other users....
i'm simply saying... if you want it to work NOW... the shortboard is the way....
if you want it to work in the future... they'll likely fix the express at some point...
sorry it is bigger and costs more money....
but it works... and that is what i personally would consider to be more important.
did not mean for my response to be disrespectful...
you are perfectly justified in being dissapointed...
i've been there with other issues myself...
just trying to point you to an existing device that will work for your needs.
Just a side note, but have you gone into the pod hd menu and enabled the FBv express option? I have the express and the short board but have not used the express with the pod hd. I use it for a different amp. So I'm not sure what enabling that will fix... I can compare Monday evening if that helps... Although the manual might clear that up without the hassle.
Hi,
I'll give a try this sunday ! Not sure about the results but it worth the try ...
Thank you
Yeah, me and some other users with the same problem have this option enabled.
Hello,
I tested the FBV Express option in the HD desktop Setup Menu whithout success.
A B C D are not functionning while activated by FBV Express MKII (Can't stop recording, can't stop loop play ...)
From Line 6 side, do we have any news about this problem ?
Hope they will not just ignore this problem ...
Warfare, I have ignored starting a support ticket since they will just close it.
Perhaps it's easier to get their attention by bumping this and the other looper threads on top.
Give us some more bug fix info Line6, thanks.
Hello Magpie,
Any news from Line 6 ? Today this post is burried in 4th position in the forum ... seems Line 6 guys don't want to reply at all.
Sad.
Guys, there is no point bumping a thread that is 'assumed answered'. Line 6 do not see bumped threads - they see new ones (and then they have to be marked as a question).
So if you have a real problem and want a response from Line 6 you will need to start your own thread. Piggy-backing onto an existing answered thread will get you nowhere fast.
Hey Mr Arkadin,
Thank you for the advice. I just opened a new thread : http://line6.com/support/thread/84209
Please guys switch to this new thread in order to get some news from Line 6 ...

Hello,
I totally agree, we need to regularly bump this thread to keep it alive.
Anyway, I think you should open a support ticket and communicate us the reply from Line 6 ...
