Wrong Vibration

Hello,

I am the owner of a brand new VARIAX JTV 69 which has a recurrent problem regarding the G string. In the open position, whenever that string is pinched the sound is not clear . It sounds like it has a parasite vibration, a kind of twiddle producing a dissonant sound.

This really frustrating for I cannot find out the reason of that problem.

Did anybody else have experienced that matter and have an idea how to get rid of it?

Thanks in advance.

Chris

You have a model 69 which is the only model with a tremolo.  Perhaps that additional harmonic is coming from sympathetic vibrations from the springs?

Have you tried a few cotton balls at various places in that trem chamber or even on the bridge to see where the additional sound stops when suppressed?

    Best of luck,

    Neal

      +1 Neal,

In addition, that vibration could also take place at the string betweent the nut and the tuner. You can place a piece of foam at that place in order to see if the weird vibration disappears.

      Best Regards,

      Daf

    Re: Wrong Vibration

Hi was reading through the forum and saw this thread.

I just received my jtv59 and have the same issue with my low E. if I play the open E and let it ring out I get this type of sitar overtone. This is without the guitar plugged in. Driving my nuts.

Have tracked it down to the nut. If I place finger on where the string sits on the nut the issue goes away. Not sure exactly what's happening there but it's definately affecting the modelling.

    Thoughts?

As above - try  a piece of foam tucked under the strings behind the nut or place a hair tie over the strings behind the nut to dampen the strings. If that does not fix it then get  luthier to look at it and adjust nut if necessary.  Or swap for another one if its still within its return period.
