OK, so Darell I am on the cusp of taking the plunge and getting a '59 and concerting it as you suggested.  One question - will this void my warranty or can Line 6 extend a small olive branch to us lot and allow us to make the mod without voiding the warrantee?

Look forward to hearing back from you and I'll let everyone know how it goes with the upside down 59 soon as I can.

    Thanks

    Luke

"converting" not "concerting".  Also I write "jingles" not "jungles".  Sorry.

    Hi all,

I was an early adapter to this Variax thing.

I own two lefties and one "normal" 500.

Also have a righty 700 series bass and lots of other line6 gear.

Have long time been disapointed with the Line6 attitude towards sinister players.

The 500 was the only offering for left handed players...in this day and age?...disgraceful!

More than a few of my amost 50 analog electric guitar and basses have been leisurely customized in some wacky way or another over the past 40+ years......It's been loads of fun doing so.

I own a Casio PG380  bought in 1980s that was a superb instrument.Unfortunately  cap death and assorted dgitial troubles have put it to the side for now.

That's the problem with digital based axes.

The  bottom line now is that ,while I've enjoyed the marvelous aspects of Variax tech,I'm choosing to  bail out.

Might keep the righty bass and 500 for possible transfer to another body and neck, but the lefty 500s will be ebayed.

They've been good, but not THAT good, and  they will eventually fail in a major way....I'd be stuck.

It seems there won't be a real  Line 6 support or active interest for 500s and left handed players...their recent feedback here  has been  disapointing to say the least.

    Oh Well,

    Tony C

I have been an early fan of the variax JTV, and I deeply hoped to have -sooner or later- the chanse to have a lefty one.

But with the passing of time I find myself in a different position. I found out that my lefty 500 (a cheap peace of wood with an old but still nice CPU) has no replacement pieces.

And NO lefty JTV in the future. Well, I'm disappointed.

I also see that roland's GR55 with GK3 is pretty decent,  I can use  my real Strat, Parker PM-20 pro and get the alternate tuning and virtual guitars (not to mention all the midi stuff) on a decent guitar.

You know what? I'm tempted to sell my variax , and with the money I raise to buy that system.

Dear Line6: if you are not loyal to your customers, customers won't be loyal with you. Yes, it's that simple.

re: Roland GR-55 -- I think you would be happier with the VG-99, which I've had since it came out. I've used it live and for recording and am very happy with it -- it has virtually no latency and generally sounds great. I bought a GR-55 when *it* came out, and didn't really like it so I sold it -- it *does* have latency (although somewhat less than earlier models) and I discovered that I didn't really need a bunch of synth sounds.

I've never played a Variax for hopefully obvious reasons, but from what I understand about it the VG-99 can do a lot of the same things (alternate tunings, modeling of various guitars/efx/amps/speakers/mics/etc...). I bought a Fernandes Sustainer strat-style lefty and had my luthier install the Roland GK "internal" kit into it, which has worked well for the last four or five years. So IMO this is probably the only alternative to a Variax out there. Of course there's the floor box and GK cable to contend with, but then the VG can do quite a bit more than a Variax in terms of efx and amp modeling.

Good idea, if Line 6 don't want to support us South Paws. I know a friendly Luther. But I want a JTV. I think I can wait until the end of the year, but would really like Line 6 to come off the fence and say that there will be, or there won't be a South Paw JTV.

Cone on Line 6! You seem to be doing a good job in losing South Paw Customers right now! Is it really good buisiness to ingore 10% of the potential market?

Line 6 ignores a lot more than just 10% of their potential customer base.

I think it's a shame that we can't express how we really feel, I will edit my opinions, compromise my intentions, and deliver a watered down message of what i think. I am sorry.....

Of course you can express how you really feel; anyone can. It's a matter of balancing what we say, and how we say it, against what we expect to achieve/gain.  If I am trying to persuade someone to do something I want, I am more likely to get my desired results by speaking nicely to them rather than abusing them. That's not hard to understand. If I don't care about getting results and just want to rant and vent, then I am perfectly free to do so (within the bounds of what any reasonable forum moderator will permit without deleting it). So, when frustrated, everyone needs to decide which is more important to them - ranting and venting or trying to influence change. That should dictate how we choose to express ourselves.

No, I am not a left-handed guitarist. I am, however, a left-handed golfer over 6-feet tall and I am similarly frustrated every time I go into a golf equipment store or a car showroom. For every token left-handed putter I see on display there are about 25 right-handed putter models in various shapes, sizes, styles, and shaft lengths. And it's impossible to find a compact car that I can actually sit in and drive. But I don't believe for an instant that the manufacturers have anything against me personally, or against left-handed golfing 6-footers. Making things to suit me and those like me is simply not a profitable venture for them; if it were they would be after my money quickly - and some fine day they might decide to do that. As it is I have to compromise, or pay extra for custom fitting/orders, or stop buying golf equipment and cars.

    Peace.

Hi Wishbone5, yep, that's how I discovered the Variax too. I was looking for the self tuning Gibson on YouTube, then came across the Variax in all it's glory. I now own a right hand 300 and left hand 500 and the Pod 2.0. This is the point i'm making...It was me that discovered them and it's me that is being loyal to them, not the other way round. I, as a left hand guitarist am dissapointed in their lack of concern over a minority group of guitar players, specially as I KNOW, that with targeted marketing they could really become THE name in left handed guitars. Almost every proffesional player with a Les Paul or Strat would have one as a "back-up". Still, my frustration with the marketing strategies of Line6 have eased since I got my 500. Now I have to improve my playing skills to justify the purchase of a lefty JTV69 to the wife :-)

gordii - I just got off the phone with your wife - she says go for it. She'd be happy to get you a lefty 69 today, but......
