POD X3 Extremely weak input/output

About a month ago my POD worked fine, I put it away and left it untouched for a month until now. Suddenly the input is extremely weak, even at +12dB and at maximum master volume. Barely anything, and what is there isn't an accurate representation of the preset.
I thought this may be simply be an output problem, but recording via USB to a computer still picks up the same sound. Playing a song from my computer through the POD as an interface works, but seems to be much quieter than it should be.
I have reflashed my POD and updated all firmware.
Could someone please tell me where the problem lies?
What type of guitar are you using? Is it possible that its pickups require batteries that need replacing?
My guitar does have active pickups but I tested the POD on one with passive pickups as well, to rule that out.
Is it likely just an input problem? For example, when touching the cable to the input jack on the guitar there isn't the usual buzz you'd expect.
I've tried through the MIC input at the back aswell, with the exact result.
have you called customer support? do you use gear box?
Not yet! I was hoping it was something I could resolve easily, as it was working fine, and suddenly this happened. I'm not using gearbox, this happens unrelated to any computer connections.
Any help would be grateful thanks!
