Ux1 confusion!

I got my hands on a Ux1... it has 50 amp models and 24 cabs. 28 bass amps and 22 cabs. How come? Not usre on the fx...
I took the working .aet file to my offline pc and tried the plugin but I have to activate that too? This has caused some confusion!
54 amps not 50... I bought the model packs for my podxt so they got activated in the ux1? It says I have cc metal shop and bass packs!
Not sure how to activate the plugin...
Hi,
I wasn't quite sure what your first question was.
I am not sure about the activating, except that you use the Line 6 Monkey programme to authorize your ux1 while it is plugged in etc.
Hopefully someone else can help here,
God Bless,
David
I was just confused how I had 54 amps when I should have 23!!! Anyway I just seem to need to add the power pack and it's full of everything line 6!
When I went to use the plugin on my off line computer and it did mention line 6 monkey... but it's off line. Do I do that on the online netbook first? What files will I need to drag to the other pc?
The answer seems to be in the manual... but I do not undertsand a word of it!
Hi again,
I read someone's posts recently about using a computer which is not on the internet, and I think it seemed like the computer that will be used by the ux1 has to be the one you use to go onto the internet. I'll have another look around to see if I can see any other info about this.

Hi again,
I think this is probably what you might be needing:

I hope this helps,
I haven't had a close look at that yet but if its not helping, just let me know.

I don't get a word of it!!!
Hi,
What operating system are you using? Vista?
On this page there are a couple of videos that show how to use the online computer. You plug the ux1 into the online computer and install the software ( I can't remember if you install the software first and then plug in - whichever is the correct way). Then you authorize whatever needs to be authorized by using Line 6 Monkey programme. Then, follow what the video on this page says (depending on whether its xp, vista, or mac) - I am not sure what the message written on the screen on those videos means. Don't worry about it unless you can't get to those files it mentions. If you can't get those files that you need in monkey, then you might have this other program called Line 6 License Manager. I am not sure if you do the same thing with that. I'd have to look that up. Get those files and put on a flash/usb drive or whatever, and then put that drive into the offline computer and copy and paste those files into the same folder they were in on the other computer.

From what I've read, I think you install the software and then plug in and then do the driver install with monkey.
Monkey seems to install everything... I found the plug ins in their folders imported the location into sonar. the pod farm works but gearbox seems to need to be paid for? I should have just got a cheap preamp and stuck with the toneport di gold!!!
Ok I'm on the online computer. Using sonar 6 as usual try to insert line 6 effects (gearbox mono) but the screen says: "Ready to activate: line 6 monkey will activate for you" Clicking on it takes you to line 6 monkey... I tried pod farm plugin which works but... I perfer gearbox!
Hang on "For owners of eligible Line 6 hardware - other than TonePort DI Silver or Gold Plug-in
Bundle or TonePort UX8 - plug-in processing requires the purchase and activation of a
license from the Line 6 Online Store." So I have to pay to use gearbox?
Hmmmm, not sure about that
I haven't used gearbox.
Sorry about above. I didn't see that you had already taken the aet files over to the other computer.
That message seeems to be saying that the gearbox version you have is made for the Toneport DI or ux8. I just went to the downloads section and they all seem to say that about other hardware than the toneport di and ux8. Do you have the software cd?
I believe Gearbox is no longer available/supported as a plugin; I don't think you will be able to buy/use it. The Plugin processor is Pod Farm, and I believe you now have that working.
I am not 100% certain in my opinion about Gearbox plugin availability - perhaps another user can clarify with certainty?
Meantime - given that you now seem to have Pod Farm working - are there any other issues you are having?
Does pod farm use more cpu power over gearbox, this netbook is glitching! On gearbox I could use a plug in in either mono or stereo depending on what the track was. I often had several open on a song. Will it be up to that with pod farm?
Also I just tried to apply pod farm plugin to a stereo track but the plugin is only applying that to the left signal... how do I change that?
Not sure about pfarm vs gearbox cpu usage. Concerning the tracks and podfarm. Are you using "podfarm" or "pod farm mono"? You should have both available in your recording programme (DAW)
The gear box stuff is labled mono/ stereo but the pod farm stuff isn't.
On mine, version 2.50, I get the normal plugin and a mono plugin in my daw.
I'll have to get back to it. Installing 2.51 on mine has rendered pod farm 1 and 2 unusable... "yadda yadda framework error." Gearbox still works!
Yes, I think you need to totally clear off other versions etc.
Thats strange about not having the two versions. Maybe there is something in the 2.51 version to select mono or stereo.
I have noticed in pod farm, in 'mixer view', there is a box which can have stereo, left, or right. Also, is the knob in there, which has an 'L' and 'R' below it, turned and not in the centre?
I shall return...
Ok I'm happy now! I played with Pod farm 1.12 and the few things I couldn't get a long with I'm ok with now. It's good to be able to sing and play using the 2 inputs... I just need to get the power pack and I'm set!
Hi,
Were you saying you thought you had the pack, or that you don't have it but want to get it?
I've just re-read your first post. I don't know if the packs for your xt would go with the ux1, would they? Did the xt use podfarm?
Actually, I think I have read it does. Is that right?
For what ever reason my online activation of the ux1 has upgraded it to throw all the packs I bought for the xt... metal shop, collector classic, the bass pack and it has already had an upgrade of fx junkie by line 6. So all i am miising is the power pack.
The power pack takes my 54 amps to 78 which is the total line 6 has done. Also the power pack adds 33 more fx which takes my 64 to 97 fx... the total line 6 has done!!!
I tried again with pod farm 2... that mono/ stereo thing doesn't work like pod farm 1 or gearbox but I like pod farm 1 and the plugin! Cool!
Thanks for the help.
Hi,
Sounds like you might need to contact Line 6 technical support to ask about why the power pack isn't activating.

Thats good you are getting Pod Farm 1 working well.
Hope you get things sorted out,
God Bless,
David
the power pack wont authorize for the toneport because it's a factory install for the XT....
you'd need to buy a license for that one seperately for the toneport... although you wouldn't need it or use it with the XT.
Yeah that's fair enough I didn't expect the free upgrade! The Xt is great and I still put it through my amp but it doesn't have vocal preamps. I think thats why I bought the D.I Gold? The ux1 has 2 inputs which I like so it is worthwhile getting that pack a little later...
