Using POD HD300 with Roland CUBE 80XL (JC120 Channel or AUX IN)?

Anyone out there using a Roland Cube XL with their POD HD? How do you input the POD? Do you use the JC120 clean channel or do you use the AUX IN on the back of the amp (AUX IN goes directly to the power amp)? All comments are appreciated.
The Aux-In will definately color the HD's sound less than the clean channel.
Thanks for your reply.
"The Aux-in will definitely color the HD's sound less than the clean channel"
Ummm, no, you are incorrect. An HD300 and a Roland Cube 80XL is exactly what I have, use the AUX input, it will be more of a true Full Range Flat Response (FRFR) sound. Using the JC-120 or any of the actual guitar amps through the normal guitar input routes the POD through the power amp section of the Roland 80XL and will probably sound like garbage.
You can test what sounds better to your ears, I would suggest if you use any amp/input on the Roland other than the AUX IN to use the pre-amp only/no cab option on the POD, ...if you are using a full amp w/ speaker and microphone on the POD, the AUX input is what you want. The only thing with the Roland using the AUX input is the lack of volume control for the 80XL,......I have the house volume set with the POD, and use the 80XL as strictly a stage monitor, and run a volume pedal for it between the POD and the Amp.

Ummm... I think that is actually what I said?? It will color the sound less going straight to the power amp? ( I think you missed the word "less" in my response)
Using the normal guitar input will route the HD's signal to the Roland's preamp before the power amp.
Aux-in will by-pass the preamp and go directly to the power amp.
But you are correct, let your ears have the final verdict!! ![]()
I have the 40 XL
You think there is any line loss going from a 1/4 inch jack to the 1/8 inch jack of the aux in?
You will lose 1/8". ![]()
Not really, and any loss would be unperceivable.
Oops, sorry,...read your post too fast.........my mistake, your fault.... =)
The AUX input works pretty good for me, the 80XL has more than enough of available power and volume, and one of these days I will drop some bones on a true FRFR speaker, but it is definitely holding it's own right now.
No big, you're correct though, it was my fault.
I was going to elaborate a bit, but didn't have time at the time.
Thanks for your input on this subject. How do you set the amp/line and studio/live switches?
Stay in the mix and in the know.
