You can use the effects in the HD 500 to go in front of the pre amp models and modulations/delays/reverbs after the pre model then just run the output into the effects return (power amp in) on the amp no need to use 4 cables.

I have a couple of additional questions.
If I am using the FX return of the amp:
1-Which should be the Output settings?
2- How should I set the “1/4 Out” from the front panel of the POD?
My guess for 1 is Combo Power Amp and Amp for number 2 but please let me know if I am right.

Or you could put the preamp of the Blackstar in the loop of your POD and use the FX loop block and turn off the amp simlations and have patches that are just the blackstar or patches that are just the pod...of your could mix them. Then you could place some stompboxes infront of your blackstars preamp and others after it.
I run my ENGL E530 in the loop of my hd500 and get some really great sounds mixing the tube preamp with the modeled preamps.
