Fuzz Factory into FX Loop

Hi,
I've just acquired a Zombii Fuzz Factory clone, which I want to use in the effects loop. It sounds great when inserted between the guitar and HD500 (ie not in the loop), but putting it in the loop just makes it really noisy (primarily hiss) and impossible to get the oscillation effects.
I've got the switch on the back set to stomp, and the FX LOOP block is the first device in the chain with 0db both in and out, and mix at 100%
Is anyone else using the FF in the loop successfully?
Ta,
Bod.
After further testing, I'm sure something isn't right.
If the FX Loop effect block is switched off, and the Fuzz Factory is switched on, the hiss is incredible. Turning the pedal off silences it.
How come there is any noise at all if the FX Loop is off?! Surely the send and returns are muted and shouldn't contribute anything to the sound?!
Second issue first .
There is a global option 'trails'. If this is turned on then the FX Loop return iremains on even when the loop is switched off. This facility is provided to allow delays and reverbs in the FX Loop to ring out. If you want the loop return to be switched off when you turn the loop off change the setting to 'Off'.
First issue .... weird! With the loop set at 'stomp and the levels set as you described it should be fairly quiet. For your distortion, the FX Loop should be one of the very first effects.
As a test: you could put a patch cable betwen the FX Send and FX Return on the POD and see if there is still noise when the loop is turned on.
Thanks for the response Jim.
I've been into the global settings and set Trails to off, but the return feed is still active!! No noise when using a loopback cable, but if I switch the FX Loop off and remove the loopback from the send I can generate noise by touching the end of the cable.
UPDATE: While I've been typing this, I tried disconnecting the USB cable, restarting the Pod and bingo, the Trails setting remained and return feed is not live any longer.. It's not the first time I've experienced strange behaviour with the unit connected to HD Edit. Not saving the channel volume correctly is the usual one - I have to do it manually on the unit for it to work correctly. Rubbish.
Ok, so that's the noise problem when the FX Loop is off sorted. Thanks Jim. However, the pedal still doesn't work as well as expected. I think it's maybe just the pedal that doesn't like the loop, but I can't understand why.
Are you running the fuzz face off a battery? If not,try that and see if it helps.
Yeah, running off a battery. It all works fine inline between guitar and Pod, just not in the loop, which is a shame because I was hoping to use one f/switch to turn the fuzz factory off and others on.
There are a lot of fuzzes that don't like being used anywhere in the chain but in the very front. The Fuzz Factory has this reputation, so I'd assume a FF clone would react similarly as well.
Just found this post on the Zvex forums.

The HD500 has an impedance of 1Meg so I guess that's the problem. Thanks for your help folks!
uhm... not exactly... you can change the impedence on the HD500 inputs...
i assume you are meaning the impedence on the FX loop... don't know that one.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
