    Re: Unknown Error?

The most likely cause is a USB communications error of some sort.

    Please make sure that:

    - you are using the latest version of Line 6 Monkey (v1.58)

    - your HD300/400 device driver is up to date

    - you are using a USB 2.0 port on your computer

    - you are not using any USB hubs

Try using different USB ports. Try temporarily disabling other USB devices (expect keyboard/mouse).

    Re: Unknown Error?

I had that same problem (midi error message) trying to install 2.0.1 on my 300 yesterday. It happened to me twice in fact.

Then, I decided to install the HD edit upgrade first (which I didn't do before).

I then unplugged the pod and plugged it back in and the machine displayed the message "Panic!!! Code 1"

I then attempted to install 2.0.1 for the third time and it worked.

The pod hd300 now works perfectly.

    Re: Unknown Error?

You could try a factory reset on the POD, install 1.31 then upgrade it to 2.01.

The bad news is that you will lose patches and configuration if you do this.  I know it is too late for you to have backed up your Pod so I guess this is bad news if you havent.  I cannot see any other user-fixable way to deal with it  though.

    To do the hard reset:

    • Unplug the Pod,
    • hold  down the A footswitch
    • Connect the power to the POD with the footswitch still held down.

This should reset the POD.  If this brings the pod back to life then try the upgrades.,

It may or may not work.  If it does,do a pedal recalibration once you have done all updates.

      Re: Unknown Error?

I had the same problem trying to load mine yesterday.  I tried the factory restore, that didn't help, the POD was still "bricked"

The only thing that worked for me was to load Monkey on a different computer and update from there.

(the computer that didn't work on was new as of this year)

        Re: Unknown Error?

USB is a capricious and evil technology.  It sometimes  just seems to fail on some machine for no tangible reason and the only fix is to find another machine.   Unfortunately its the only standard interfacethat is common at the moment so people and companies struggle by.

I think your recommendation to find another PC and reflash from there is a good one.

          Re: Unknown Error?

Its interesting though.  I have prob 6+ ports on that computer (front and back).  Tried at least 4 of them, none would do the update properly (nothing else plugged in other than keyboard and mouse).  I use those ports on a daily basis with zero issue (multitude of external storage devices - SD, USB stick, External HD, Compact Flash, MicroSD, musical interfaces, digital recorders, camaras, etc).

Really very curious why The PODHD is the only object to ever give me an issue.

            Re: Unknown Error?

Sounds like an intermittent problem with the USB port on the POD.  If you have a good tech to take it to, you may want to have it checked out.

Also, you may want to run M-Bam & Spybot to check for spyware that might be causing an issue.  (Both are free downloads from the Internet - safe)

              Def not, spyware/virus.

It is a studio computer, never connected to the internet, other than for this update (or to periodically update virus definitions)

It did update fine with a different computer.

I feel bad for those who only have one computer, if they encounter this issue.

Count yourself lucky!  I have had all kinds of devices give me gyp on machines old and new over the years.   I find that some devices are just more stroppy than oothers.   My HD has been (thus far) very well behaved when I use USB.  Not detracting from your experience but that is mine.

    Re: Unknown Error?

    Hi,

solved the problem by deactivating the hd 300-Audio Device in the Windows System. Then it worked fine to udate to V2.01. Let´s look back:

The error massage said: "midi-error". Since I did the update on usb I wondered why there was a midi hardware recogniced.

But I used the HD 300 as Audio -Interface. See screenshot. Just choose another device as "standard" and it works. (In the update-process it sai as well "close any sequencer aplication" It should definitely say: Close EVERY APPLICATION USING the pod HD 300.

    Hope to help,

    Bernhard
