Hi,
There are some videos and document here which might help:
http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-2085
One thing various people find is that one usb slot might work better than another.
I hope you find a solution.
Let us know if nothing there really helps.
God Bless,
David

Just for clarification you are running the most recent drivers and firmware?
If you run the Line6 Monkey you should have green ticks for everything.
If you have the most recent drivers and still have problems, in addition to the above doc, there is the USB Troubleshooting guide.

thanks both of you. but i dont think that is the answer. i updated the monkey and tried numerous USB slots (it was originaly plugged into my laptops Dock, but i tried directly to the laptop too) the videos really have more to do with Vista then windows 7.
and its not the programs that are the problem. i played an MP3 file through the UX2 and got the same jump. its as if someone unplugged and replugged the USB for half a second, even the needles in the windows on the UX2 drop down to zero, but more importantly the light stays on, so its still getting a power suply. is it possable that i just have a faulty unit?
thanks
Omer

It sounds like a USB issue, have you read the USB troubleshooting docI linked above?
Is there another computer you could try this on?
You can contact Line6 directly via a support ticket:
