Question about pod hd500 with analog pedals!!!

Hello Friends

I have a big question, does anyone know how the pod hd500 react adding analog pedals such as : chorus, noisegate, ODs, etc?

Im about to but the pod hd500 with a pedaltrain pro but i also want to combine analog pedals. Im afraid the analog pedals will be a waster for buying it, thats why im looking for answer for those who is combining them.

if anyone know a video, a track or sound! please post the link and i will listen it!

Im planning to combine just analog pedals with pod hd500 amps and then direct to Mixer! thats my idea!

I wanted to do this too and have found a good sound. Although  I use the 4 cable method or 4CM with an amp, you can probably just use the od's, distortions, compressors before the Pod, then in your amp patch insert an effects loop and put your mod type boxes in the loop, then run out from that to your mixer.  put the effect loop patch just before the amp sim. then try after to what sounds better

I use the above method but with 4CM and the pedals all sound great.  be sure to set your levels proper in the mixer as to not overdrive your mixer channel which would sund like crap unless it's a fine old tube mixer or something

If that does not sound so good then try running it without the loop patch.  I've also had some luck running everything straight into the mixer.

I'm sure there is a more technically appropriate way to do it and that someone will pipe up to say so, but in the mean time I'd give this a shot.  seems to be the most straight forward method.  be sure to set your output in the POD to direct or studio

I have a bunch of pedals I use...Mostly with my HD400...I also have an HD Bean and I use them with it also, but only recording as that setup is less practical live...

Right now I have a BOSS BCB-60 with mostly old Boss pedals in it...I have a Strymon OB.1 compressor...My prized pedal is my Boss DM-3 analog delay...All of them work great with the HD Pods...

The modelled amps respond the same way that the real amps would with the same pedal infront of them.  It's really as simple as that.  If you hit these amp models with a hotter input from a boost, they'll start to overdrive up just like the real amp would.  If you put a distorted tone, modulated tone or wah'ed tone into them, they'll amplify that tone and react to it in the same way as the real amp that's being modelled.  Line 6 have put an enormous amount of effort into the authenticity of their amp modelling and it shows when you do things like put pedals into the modelled effects chain.

      Cheers,

I use several different pedals in my setup and they sound fantastic with the POD. I have a Hotcake Overdrive, Eric Johnson Fuzz Face, Vox Satchurator, BBE Boosta and a Deja Uni-Vibe in conjunction with the POD.

In the past few months ( I admit I struggled to get the tones I had hoped for initially) I have had many people comment on my tone and say how awesome it sounds. Always a good thing. Didn't always get that with my last setup!

Hellos, I'm on the verge of buying a Egnater Tourmaster amp, and I want to know what the configuration using the software, with the 4-wire method.

I am clear that I send the amplifier distortions imput, that means sent from the SEN of the HD500, but the reverb and delay as displayed in the software?

    gracias por sus comentarios.

Hola!

      Saludos!

ok, thanks Fede17_dream, then the setting is:

        1) Cable 1: Input IN HD guitar

        2) Cable 2: SEN of HD to Amplifier Input (and configure the equipment FXLoop with a compressor for example, and then an overdrive) and could also put (SEN of HD to the Bloddy Input Ouput of Mary and the Imput of Blody Amplifier)

        3) Cable 3: Return of the SEN HD Amplifier

        4) Cable 4: Out of the HD to Amplifier Return delay + reverb and configure the software that would go over here?

        from already thank you.

Re: Question about pod hd500 with analog pedals!!!

          4)Cable 4: HD Main Out (L o R) >>> AMP Return.

            saludos.

OK, that was my question, you spent.

to change my settings to get to power and connect to a head now to the low tubes are very beautiful, the bass of bloody far exceeds delivers bass you HD.

            greetings.

Re: Question about pod hd500 with analog pedals!!!

I've only used overdrive/distortion pedals in front of it but they've worked pretty well.

The Boss Metalzone sounds exactly like the one built in the HD500 I have, but with a few more tone tweaking options. Other than that though, spot on.

So if you have pedals you want to use with the HD500 go for it.
