Hi
I'm going back to valve amps after a using FRFR setups for a while. So, I'm considering using the 4CM as my next starting point in my never ending quest for ultimate tone and was wondering how I caould also hook up my GSP1101 as well ?
Would i just hook the HD Pro in series with the GSP and use FX blocks in the GSP if I need them (or not) and if so, what about volume levels etc ? I wont use the GSP for amp modelling, that will all come from the Pod but any advice on this would be very much appreciated.
I now await jimsreynolds to leap into the thread with his underpants on the outside of his trousers with all the answers - like he nornally does ![]()
Thanks again
.....!
Yeah, you can do it. If you really wanted to go nuts you could run a 4CM inside your 4CM (in principle at least
).
The hookup would go
By doing this, the setup will give you
Guitar --> POD FX --> GSP FX --> Real Preamp --> GSP FX --> POD FX --> Real Power Amplifier
You could change it around and have the GSP FX wrapping the Pod FX or even some crazy hybrid by messing with the cabling order some more.
I think though that you might just drive yourself nuts if you try and get too clever with all this. What do you want from the GSP?
I would like some compression reverb, chorus and delay - all the drive will be from the pod and the amp
Thanks jim :)
Well in the 'classic' order of effects: the compressor would go before the amp and the other effects after. Therefore. if you want to use all of those effects then the 4CM inside 4CM message I suggested above may actually be the way to go
.
GSP1101 manual is here --> http://www.digitech.com/system/documents/2/original/GSP1101Manual18_0474_B.pdf?1286481757It seems that the effects order is fixed, unlike the POD but that everything is in the classic order. You would cable up as I suggested above and set everything to run at -10dBV (instrument level). The GSP would need a global setup to work with an 'External Preamp' as per page 51 of the printed manual. The Pod setup would be as per the 'first method' here --> http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-2522 . I cannot really give you the detailed setup for the GSP as I have not used one but try and keep unity levels Throughout
If the layered 4CM thing is just too much then I would simply put the GSP1101 between the POD 1/4" Out and the Amp FX Return. This gives you all the effects after the POD. i.e
You could also hookup the HD500 Midi Out to the GSP Midi In and keep the patches in sync.
Thanks Jim - ill give that a go.
You're the man !!!
Do you know where the fx blocks would go please ?
You need to be more specific. What FX Blocks? Where?
Works a treat jim with both the pod and gsp in 4cm. I'm spoiled for choice now
Stay in the mix and in the know.
