Vetta 2 Midi connection

Hey guys, ive got a Vetta 2 HD head. I want to connect it to my PC so I can update the software on it. I have a MIDI to USB cable and Im connecting to my PC, when I run Line 6 monkey it's telling me nothing can be found however I can still perform the update. However doing so will erase my user banks, so I want to back them up. I go to the save option on my amp and choose ""Send MIDI dump of user bank?" So to back it up. I'm assuming this transfers it to my PC, I select this option and nothing happens. I cannot find a file called "SysEx" on my PC.

Any help would be appreciated.

You'll need software on your computer to capture the MIDI dump.  Something like MIDI-OX or similar.  You could (and probably should) download Line 6 Edit and use that to save your patches too.

Also make sure you use the USB midi cable that Line 6 recommends ( http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Uno.html ) otherwise from all the chatter here it seems you'll just have problems. Ya gotta download and install their latest driver for it and your system too.

Then use Edit etc. to save your patches and do the Monkey upgrade thing.

What interface are you using.  If it's not the m-audio Uno then you'll be wasting your time.  There are very few MIDI/USB interfaces that will work correctly due to buffering.

As has been said, just get the M-Audio and your problems will likely go away. It isn't that costly so you're not really saving anything by trying to make the other one work, instead you're probably wasting your own time and frustration.

I've found that If getting something accomplished means burying a dead cat in the backyard under the light of a full moon, then by all means just do it unless there is some other objective in mind.
