A Disobedient GearBox (involving Mac & PodXTLive)

I have been using GearBox as a convenient way to shape and manage tones for my Pod XT Live.
But now I am unable to use it. Realtime adjustments done on the Pod XT itself propagate nicely to Gearbox UI, while adjustments done on GearBox do not propagate to Pod XT.
In more detail: Turning knobs, pressing switches, operating expression pedal and switching audio chain components on Pod XT will be reflected in the Gearbox UI correctly, in realtime. Doing so in Gearbox does not change any settings on Pod XT resulting in no change of guitar sound. Interestingly, switching amp types, cab types and tones in Gearbox works fine and the changes are propagated to Pod XT. Using 'Midi monitor' i can see that MIDI messages are communicated via USB from PodXT, some SysEx messages are communicated from Gearbox to PodXT, too... But adjustments done using knobs in Gearbox are not.
I am not sure what might be the cause. Either updating to Mountain Lion, or updating Line 6 drivers. After updating my iMac to Mountain Lion, Line6 Monkey did not recognize my Pod XT. So I updated Line 6 drivers to v7.1.7 and updating drivers solved the recognition issue, but GearBox entry from Monkey is gone.
Anyone else experiences the same issue?
Did v7.1.7 Line6 drivers dropped Gearbox?
Since GearBox seems to be obsolete, same as my Pod XT Live
...
Is there an alternative solution you propose?
Something I could use to shape and manage tones conveniently without bowing down and fidgeting with those little buttons on PodXT?
Uh... It seems my brain is obsolete, too. The solution is to use Line 6 Edit software.
they should both work really...
I agree. They should. I did not explore why they are not. :(
I'm actually having the same issue, but I have Snow Leapord. I can still edit in "LINE 6 EDIT" and custom tones will upload to my pod there but not in the Gear Box. I'm going to try and down grade to the previous version of Gearbox and try that.
Yes, unfortunately, i updated my OS, line6 monkey and line6 drivers that same day and therefore obfuscated any possibility to diagnose the issue. As i said, my solution is to use "line 6 edit" instead. It serves me ok so far. you might want to try it.
Why is gearbox not working? Very many wild guesses. New system has some bug with usb? Java changed? Line6 intentionally cut off gearbox? Since line 6 edit works fine for me, I did not want to waste time on troubleshooting. Knowing me, and knowing the nasty character of issues that usually stem from a proprietary software/obsolete product/unsupported software combo... I did not dare to spend hours or days chasing ghosts... Like i used to...
I just want to play my guitar, now. I'm old... :)
Old people whine occasionally. Like me now: Meh, we used to play one guitar for 20+ years. The longer the better. Amps were longlasting, too. These digital things? I dunno. Getting obsolete way to fast. Even though the hardware is holding on, the software is not... And then, well...
Before buying something digital and fancy next time, I will make sure it has a guaranteed durability, support and lifetime for at least 10 years. Or I am not buying. This would have a positive impact, too, on environment, on my wallet's environment and my nerves.
Cheers!
