Pod ux2 recording and footswitch?

Well here is the deal. I currently have a spider iv 75. But i want to be able to do two things: Record at home, and get the Fx infusions and updates for my spider. So here is my question... Am i going to have to buy a footswtitch AND some type of a POD to do both? Or is there a POD or footswitch that could do both? thanks in advance

    you'd need the footswitch or to borrow one at least to get the infusion update. (the fbvexpressmkii or the fbvmkiishortboard)

    neither of which has the capability to record, for that you're best bet is to get a pod studio, depending on your needs a simple GX model might do the trick...

    but if you play to use condenser mics or record with others you might want to get the ux2.
