I acould prolly streatch to £80 or so for a nice mic, if his comp will accept my ux1 as is.. thats about as much as I can spare these days hehe.. really cannot afford another ux1 plus mic, plus all the packs, decent mic is streatching it by a mile.

I haven't got a ux1, but if you take the software with you and install it on the computer, and then run the Line 6 Monkey programme (go to the downloads section to get the latest version of monkey and if you want to - the latest updates of pod farm etc.) and then have a look at this document:
Unfortunately, I don't know for certain if the method it mentions for transferring to another computer, allows two computers to keep the authorisation or not. I know that this can be done because I was going to use a laptop and our desktop for my ux2 and I know it works that way, but I'm not 100% sure if this method it mentions in here does this. As far as I know, when you go to monkey etc. I think it gives you options for how many computers you want to have using it.
Maybe someone else can give a more straight forward answer here. Sounds good idea about the mic etc. A nice condenser mic probably would be good for that but the one thing about that is that the ux1 doesn't have 'phantom power' for a mic. So, if you used a condenser mic, you'd either have to buy some external phantom power mic unit, or get a mic that has a battery inside to give it it's power. I don't know which mics have batteries though -it might be only the more expensive ones.
Here is a post which gives an idea of what I mean:
Hope this helps a bit,

Thankyou for the reply , I am sure it wont be a problem, kinda hehe.. just thought I would check first to make sure there wasnt any chance of line6 authentication possibly having a limit or something.. seems silly now that I am sober and thinking about it hehe. Thanks also for the heads up about the uz1 not being powered, If I do decide on a condenser mic will atleast know now to grab a cheap power supply for it .
