can you lend ux1 to friends ?

This is really just a query about how the drm in ux1 works I guess, have had my ux1 with all the packs kicking around for a year or 2 heh, love it all, One of my cousins is a pro tenor .. has a website that is devoid of samples of his singing, has nothing online that shows his singing really.. he was looking for advice for his page, my advice is to start youtuibe showing how nice he is, mebbe free training vids on how to sing.. have something as opposed to just text saying he has sung for this orchestra / that choir etc hehe.. but yeh, hmm.. question is if I buy a decent studio mic, take my ux1 down to his place and try and setup a semi decent recording studio mic, 1080p vid etc heh, something small that might get him on youtube slightly, I dunno... If I did that, will my ux1 refuse to work on his pc /. laptop ?, is it jsut a case of using a password ?.. am very geeky but has been a few years, dont remember quite how it works

        Hi,

I haven't got a ux1, but if you take the software with you and install it on the computer, and then run the Line 6 Monkey programme (go to the downloads section to get the latest version of monkey and if you want to - the latest updates of pod farm etc.) and then have a look at this document:

        http://line6.com/data/6/0a060b316ac34f0593c764e79/application/pdf/POD%20Farm%202%20Advanced%20User%20Guide%20-%20English%20(%20Rev%20B%20).pdf

Unfortunately, I don't know for certain if the method it mentions for transferring to another computer, allows two computers to keep the authorisation or not. I know that this can be done because I was going to use a laptop and our desktop for my ux2 and I know it works that way, but I'm not 100% sure if this method it mentions in here does this. As far as I know, when you go to monkey etc. I think it gives you options for how many computers you want to have using it.

Maybe someone else can give a more straight forward answer here. Sounds good idea about the mic etc. A nice condenser mic probably would be good for that but the one thing about that is that the ux1 doesn't have 'phantom power' for a mic. So, if you used a condenser mic, you'd either have to buy some external phantom power mic unit, or get a mic that has a battery inside to give it it's power. I don't know which mics have batteries though -it might be only the more expensive ones.

Here is a post which gives an idea of what I mean:

        Hope this helps a bit,

        God Bless,

        David
