69 Conversion

Yo,

I couldn't wait for a left-handed Variax so... I bought a JTV69 and had it converted.

I read in an earlier post that the piezo pickup leads would need to be re-ordered and my guitar tech said it could be done (if the leads weren't long enough there are other piezo saddles available.

Everything went as planned - the longest (trickiest) part was turning the modeling knob 180° so I can see the white dot so I know what model I'm on. (not a really big issue as I plan to change most models/tunings with my HD500)

So there you have it... If you don't mind looking like Hendrix you can have your cake now!

I have two right-handed Stats so I'm used to the controls on top.

Anyway, if you were wondering if it can be done, it can!

Hope this helps

    Hey Tickhead,

Im really pleased for you because you seem to be pleased for yourself, and who wouldn't be after performing such an operation. If you've read my posts, you'll know I also have a left hand as well as a right hand Variax. Frankly, the RH is by far the better guitar. I'm also pleased that finally someone has  posted here again, I was starting to suspect L6 of censoring the mails so that they could prove there was no demand for a Left hand Variax:) I've now given up on Line6. Maybe they were "right" all along. Maybe the 50 or so people who are prepared to put pen to paper simply aren't enough to set up a production line of Left handeds, just for their benefit. Maybe, if folk are prepared to re-wire a right- handed and have those annoying knobs and scratchboard in the wrong position...then they have nothing to lose anyway. They've sold another RH 69 to a left handed person. What they won't be selling is any more equipment to me. I'm not that good a musician to justify me giving my money to a company that simply doesn't give a ****.

I love you all, and leave you all, and am off to play my Yamaha acoustic, my Yamaha keyboard through my Peavey Amp...Line6, you could have had so much of my money....but now, you can go to hell.

I've given up on Line6 as well.  It's time to wake up and smell the coffee.  I'm not so ticked off anymore though.  At some point I realized it's all about money and that was a release for me.  Once Rich Renkin jumped ship I just felt it was over.  I thought he was straight up in our lefty defense but now it's up to others.  I'll play my old 500 until it dies and then move on.  Really too bad I won't find a lefty JTV, in any config.  But I'm glad I'm no longer feeling left out, no pun intended.  Life's too short to lean on Line6 for guitar happiness,
