This does make me think of something else though - I would never want a Rickenbacker because it will always be in my mind a Beatles guitar, I know plenty of others have used them to make non-Beatley music but I cannot shake that association.

that is was ironic/cool to play one, they are really great guitars.

No one would have ever noticed and it never would have made anyone more aware of the JTV,

but Tommy Tedesco probably would have blown a gasket over the Variax concept...
