X3L outside- sun overrides the Vol Pedal

Today I had an outside gig & the vol was (way) up even in heel down pos. Noticed that when I blocked the sun over the pedal the vol went down. Never had this problem at church or at gigs.
Anyone else have this? I didn't know the mechanical part of the ex pedal was optical; I guess this is normal...??
Yes - the operating sensor is optical. If too much light is getting in, you might try repositioning a foam light shield inside that may not be in the right place any longer. Or you could try to be careful about positioning the device in direct sunlight, and perhaps construct some sort of cardboard shiled that you could tape to it without interfering with its operation.
Thanks for the prompt reply Silverhead!
I'll check those things tomorrow. Too much sun, etc. has me seeing fuzzy...
Well, it's not the front hole (where I believe the Wah Switch is), but the pivoting cylinder that's toward the middle. You're right, there's a foam shield that came unglued, allowing light to enter through that opening. I was able to duplicate the problem in sunlight, bummer because had it been the front part it would've been easier to fix.
For now I'll leave it alone, while searching for a suitable material to cover that piece without affecting the pedal function. If I can figure out how to safely remove the pedal I can build a type of bellows to attach to it, otherwise it'll be temp fixes, which I don't like.
IMO, it's a cheap design but no worse than digitech using binder clips for their switch springs.
Thanks again Silverhead. I'll post pix when I get something going.
