Chorus for HD500

Any tips on how to get the "Analog Chorus" model in the HD500 to actually sound like a nice Boss Chorus Ensemble pedal?  I've taken to using my old Rockman Stereo Chorus half-rack unit in the studio but I don't want to take it on the road ... but its difficult to understand why the HD500 only has 2 chorus models (where the Boss emulation is pretty anemic and the tri-chorus is over the top).  Any tips on getting that Andy Summers modulating chorus right up to a Boston-esque high gain amp with chorus sound, given the available models?

This might sound wierd but here's what I do. I use the anolog corus and it's tone control set almost all the way to the left which somehow brings in so much nice corus effect!! After I do that somtimes I have to compensate to bring the highs that were lost Either by placing an eq after the corus and boost some highs or simply use the amp tone controlls to bring back the lost highs. When I stumbled on this it seemed incredible how much more corus was injected into the sound. I'm not sure if this emulates the actual behaviour of the real world unit, but it works for me. 2nd: Make sure you put the mix to the Max. The reason behind that is that the anolog corus if I remember correctly split the signal into two: one completely dry and the other corused. Hope that helps.

Interesting tip Dean.  Will try that when I am back in the UK with my POD.  Thx

Even though it is not an analogue chorus, but have you played around with the Dimension? It is a simulation of the Boss DC-2 Pedal / Roland SDD-320 Dimension D.

    Cool!!

I have an original Boss DC-2, one of my favs. I like it 'cause it can add a nice chorus without hearing the ocean in a seashell!!

On the pedal you can only select one setting at a time though.

    Re: Chorus for HD500

I was playing around with this last night with my HD400 and tried both of these tips. The Dimension model does sound nice and the Analog Chorus actually works if you turn the Tone knob done.

Unfortunately Dimension lives in FX1 on this pod instead of FX2 (where it should belong IMO), so that is a drawback to using it when you still want a distortion boost or compressor running. I was able though to get sounds pretty similar out of the Analog Chorus as I could go back and forth turning on/off FX1 and FX2 then tweaking. Turning them both on simultaneously was a bit wacky but a fun sound to mess about with.

    Thanks for the tips fellows!
