The midi mobilizer won't work either... althought both via the hd500 and via the midi mobilizer are great ideas... and perhaps might be made to work at some point...

I've successfully updated with one of those 5$ chinese midi devices from ebay...

but if you can swing it, you'll have better support/reliability by getting an m-audio uno interface (35-40$)

i have seen the cheap ones cause issues... since the driver support is left to windows and not an audio manufacturer the drivers aren't up to every task.
