Assign AMP A to channel A and AMP to channel B

Is there a way I can assign AMP model A of HD500 to Channel A of my DT50 and AMP model B (with totally different setup) to Channel B intead of having to use 2 DT50 when switchingfrom 1 model to the other.

This would look like this:

HD500 AMP model A linked to DT50 AMP A, Channel A

HD500 AMP model B linked to DT50 AMP A, Channel B.

As for now, when I switch to HD500 AMP model B, my DT50 is switching to channel B but any modification applied on either one of the devices are not replicated on each other. I concluded that AMP model B is not attached to Channel B.

You are correct the AMP Channel B only gets used in bypass mode.

what you ask is impossible, because there is only a single set of circuitry inside the DT amp... it's mono...

so if you are trying to run amp a and amp b channel at the same time that's impossible.

you're clearly using a pod with it... making channel b worthless anyway...

because you can create a preset for channel a to be anything you want...

the amp becomes "dumb" once you use it with a pod... the pod is the brains.

    Fdesnoyers,

The Real Zap is totally correct. As a stand alone amp, think of channels A & B on the DT as two presets alowing you to use one OR the other like the channel presets on the POD. It is a mono amp, one input only. I know it "looks" like two channels on the amp but it is really just two front end "presets" feeding either/or into a mono path. As TRZ explained, the POD takes over Channel A on the amp (if a POD amp or preamp model is active), if a POD amp model is not active then the DT switches automatically to Channel B but your POD's efx are all still alive. In otherwords (in the example without an active POD amp) you've got a "pedal board" with the DT's Channel B's onboard model(s) working depending on how you manually set it up. Hope this helps a bit to wrap your head around the concepts?

I also wanted this to work when I first got my HD500 and DT50.

There is an advantage, maybe not for some but for others.  To each their own I guess.   When in "Pedal Board Mode", or whatever it's called, it would be nice to be able to do this.  Managing effects via tap dancing is natural for some guys like me, and I just wanted to be able to A/B amps,  clean to overdrive.  For example Bassman to Recto, and have all my effects stay on as I had them.    I like to play by feel on songs, along with turning effects on or off by feel based on that mood at the moment    So in that sense, to be able to switch amps on the fly without messing with the selected effects for that moment would be nice and that's why it's advantageous to some players..  Don't harp on it if you don't play that way...

See my thread here that was started over this same scenario.

    http://line6.com/support/thread/56408?tstart=30

Now you can do this, but you have to have TWO DT amps. But, one would think with some simple programming tweaks, it could be done with one physical amp pretty easily if you can route it while two amps are connected in a LINK chain.

The other workaround is to have both virtual amps split in your HD500 chain, put a volume pedal right behind each virtual amp (two volume pedals -set to 0% vol.), and have a foot switch turn one off and one on at same time(volume pedals).  The down side is you have to kill two effect slots for the volume pedals to do this, which ruins the ldea of being in "Pedal Board Mode" and having all these effects at your disposal (well two less effects anyhow).

I hope they could enable this one day,  as it seems possible.

    My two cents.

Re: Assign AMP A to channel A and AMP to channel B

I don't see the need to switch to Channel B in the DT.  Try this.  Build your patch in the HD500 with two different amps, one clean and one distorted.  Assign one foot switch to turn amp A on AND amp B off and vice versa.  The switch will show as "Multi" now.  This way you essentially get your channel switching with the one foot switch.  You can also add effects to the same switch so that one foot switch either turns on the clean amp with effects off or turns the distorted amp on with effects on.

FS1  ON  = Clean amp ON / Distorted amp OFF / Effects OFF

FS1 OFF = Clean Amp OFF / Distorted amp ON / Effects ON

Keep playing with it, you will see what I mean.
