Is Channel Switching in FX only mode possible on a DT25 using a HD400 with L6 link?

Hi There,
I'm a new DT25/HD400 owner have a HD400 that i'm plugging into a DT25 with the L6 link.
I'm a bit overwhelmed by the amount of sounds i've got and until i've got to grips with using and editing the patches, etc I simply want to use the HD400 as an FX only unit and use it to switch between Channels A & B on my DT25 (as I can get some gorgeous tones on the amp alone).
Having read through the manual, searched this forum and had a quick play around it doesn't seem this is possible in this configuration. Is this correct or have I missed something?
In a nutshell I want to set up channel A with one sound, channel B with another and use the HD400 to switch between the channels and use the HD400s FX when required.
If I put the HD400 in FX only mode it switches the DT25 to channel B and everythings great, but as soon as I switch to channel A, it goes back to amp modelling mode which isn't what I want.
From what i've read, i'm going to have to buy a standalone footswitch to change channels or **** around with the midi channels to control amp channel changes.
Please tell me i'm wrong!
I can't believe with all the technical wizardry in the HD that they overlooked giving it the ability to do something as simple as switching amp channels in FX only mode.
If they have, i'll be requesting this functionality as an enhancement!
Cheers!

there is really no reason to ever switch channels when connected to a pod hd....
all the same preamps that you can select in the DT you can select with the HD....
it will reconfigure channel A, to be whatever you would want on channel B
it's all modeling... even the preamps in the DT... modeled...
only the power amp is "real" all you need to do is set your topology, and select the preamp you want in your pod tone...
and the pod will switch the pre-amp in the DT... 100% same code/same/model/same sound.
there are people that say they can't get the same sounds... but it can be done... and has been done.
but there's some learning.
I hear what you saying, but here, today, with band rehearsal tonight, that doesn't help me
.
I haven't invested enough time learning the HD yet to get the sounds I want, but I can get great sounds out of the DT, which is why this apparently simple ability of channel switching would be very useful.
I know that the DT50 that i have can use a standard footwitch... maybe you have one laying around.
+1...Any standard 1/4" latching switch will work...
If you are going to use the HD400 as FX only, I tend to think the 4CM is going to get better results than using the link...This means you don't use the link and use a FS to change channels on the amp...
The main reason for this is that delays and reverbs sound better after the preamp and the link can't do that...All the FX in the HD400 as always before the DT50 preamp when using the link...
Thanks for the "top tip" i'll give that a go.
As a newbie I hadn't got a clue what 4CM was, but a quick search found a good explanation here... http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-2523
Just in case anyone reading this in the future, like me, thinks WTF? ![]()
So do I take it from these responses then that the answer to my original question "Can you change channels in FX only mode with the L6 link" is in fact "No" ?

sort of....
if you stay in regular mode (not fx only), turning the amp off will switch to channel B...
keep in mind though... that you would lose your ability to place any of those effects after the amp (post)
this assumes L6Link... not 4CM etc
Stay in the mix and in the know.
