OFFICIAL OUTRAGE THREAD!  How dare those HD300/400 users get new amps before us !!!

"Wot?  Really?  You mean all of them low-rent HD300/400 users got new stuff before us premium HD500/Desktop/Pro users?   What an outrage!  How dare Line 6 set them higher than us!  I want my money back"

Sorry.  Just anticipating the posts by people now, irritated that there are new shinies on the HD3/400 now that that havent been released on the more expensive Pod HDs.   Remember remember that the HD300/400 users waited ... uh ... patiently for a long time to get their cut of the V2 upgrade so it seems just to me that they got some extra sugar.

Me?  I feel comfortable that there should be another bus coming 'soon' but anyone who feels that they have now been gypped by Line6 should feel free to add to the thread below.  I will be fiddling with my 500 and practicing my playing.  Perhaps I am over anticipating but .....

i'm intrigued to see more high gain stuff, i feel like it's always another old marshall plexi of some kind. Those amps do nothing for me, and i don't hear much difference between them, so they always end up being "extra baggage" for me

i'd love a 5150 or 5150 III model. And i have a gazillion awesome features that i'd love to see happen, but i'm not sure how much one can affect their decisions.

I do find it odd that they always do the updates SO separate though. And if they were going to keep doing 500 first then an adapted/scaled down version for 300/400 users, then they should either break the rhythm and do simultaneous updates, or just keep going. Switching it around is just confusing for most people. It can be a polarizing move.

I really hope that they finally decide to put in some REAL EQ's with musician friendly HZ, Q, and gain indication instead of %, I'd pay for a better EQ instead of new amps ... but since we've asking this since almost two years, I'm beginning to doubt about it ...

funny... i feel the exact opposite... i feel that they keep including all these noise bucket high gain one trick pony amps... and don't add much in the way of classic/modern rock sounding amps... although at the same time i feel that area is covered pretty well currently.... so i don't really mind the high gain extras... they are just as worthless to me as the extra baggage is to you....

yea I'd kill for a slash AFD 100 model... the jcm 800 is just too muddy on the low end to get a really good slashy tone without a whole lot of extra work/tweaking and even then without that extra gain satge modeled into the preamp.. it never sounds just right

Adding more high-gain amps is just fine, but I do wish L6 could add a nice, warm jazz amp sim, like a Polytone Minibrute. There are a number of users who play in styles other than metal, who would crave for great clean amps.

Low rent 300/400 users thats friggin hilarious!!!

I look forward to not only the fact that its a soldano model, but that theres three of them. Global eq, now that would make me very happy (I'm not holding my breath) though honestly, without dedicated knobs this becomes a bit of a pain.( Having to hit menu and whatever manner of button presses just to get to the parameter).

You got to be kidding me?

Dont hear any difference on old Amp:s?

Lets say you first hear a Marshall Plexi and then an Vox AC30 and then a Fender Twin Reverb if you dont hear a difference in those three amps i suggest you take ear training lessons.

I dont hear any BIG different in the NEW amp:s they all sound almost the same to me

They all have very high gain = (i cant play without tons of distortion as all my mistakes cut thrue if i play on a clean amp settings)

      It´s almost like fuzz

And non of them have a signature character that make you say oh! thats an Engl or thats a 5150 or thats a Diezel etc etc.

On old amps you can identify them more easy as they all have a signature character in their sound.

But i have been fooled some times.

Especially when i thought Gary Moore played Parisienne Walkways on a Marshall when it was played on a Mesa Boogie.

The 300/400 guys will always be able to rub our noses in the fact that they can have separate output modes running concurrently to the XLR's and the 1/4"'s!

I'm afraid that the 500/Pros are hardwired to having the same output mode, and no firmware fix will ever address that incongruity.

Question for the 500/Pro users:  How good are those cab DEPs?

I really wanted those included in the 2.0 update for the 300.

Anyway, you guys will get the new amp models very soon I'm sure.

Ok, this is a damn good news from a global point of view ^^ The SLO100 is my dream amp

Hope HD300/400 users are happy !

But now, the only question is WHEN IS THE NEXT UPDATE FOR Pod HD Desktop and HD500 users  ?

Please Line 6 folks, give us some infos !

This IS irritating. The Soldano SLO100 is and was my goto / never fail me tone on my XTLive. As of this time...I haven't found anything I like on my HD500 that comes close. Lot's of good tones but nothing like the Solo 100. I have put my HD 500 into storage and have returned to giging with the XTLive.

I REALLY hope the HD 500 gets the Soldano soon or I will consider selling my HD500. As much as I love all the bells and whistles...it doesn't have that basic utility tone I crave.

Hmmm, does this mean that if us HD500 and HD Pro owners whinge, b!tch, scream, whine, howl and generally behave like 2 year olds that didn't get the toy he wanted for Christmas, then we'll get a few extra amps that the HD300 and HD400 won't have?

    Just stirring the pot.

    Cheers,

    Crusty

P.S. When altering the power amp parameters and mixing different Pre amps and cabs there's not much you can't tease out of the HD500 anyway.  I'm happy with what I've got.  How many punters in the audience are going to be able to pick an amp make and model just by listening to it anyway?

if there is anybody with an HD500/bean/pro who is whining about the recent update for the 300/400, remember how long they waited for it. since the units are different, they have to write 2 separate versions and they wrote the 500's first. no doubt the 500's version will be released in a much shorter time frame. of course i want more amps but right now 22 will hold me over,

I say let the 300/400 users have their "gloat time". They deserve it, they had to wait. There is NO DOUBT in my mind that the 500 "Slo" update will be forthcoming relatively soon (hopefully, maybe). The 500 is L6's flagship so they won't want it to be "behind" for long.

Nice to see Crusty "stirring the pot" however !

Perhaps my next post will be one of the following .... "b!tch, scream, whine, howl or I might generally behave like 2 year old" ..... all of which I can do well ..... lol !~!

    Hey Guy's

Any news for the firmware update ?

It's september and our Pod HD (500, Bean ...) is still missing SLO 100 ... ^^

Start to be difficult to wait

  • I hope this new update addresses my misfretting.  I am experiencing, when doing runs up and down the fretboard at speeds unnatural to me, that I miss most of the notes.  Also, when I attempt to play many random chords in quick succession, I tend to make a mess out of them, ie, they sound like crap....

I'm wondering if Line 6 has made any changes in the new firmware to fix this problem.  i'm sure many others out there are experiencing the same thing, no?

    Help???????

Yes - actually Line 6 and several other companies have indeed come up with help for those of us who can't play as fast as we'd like to for whatever reason.  This new addition is called a delay unit.  By putting a high level of what they term "feedback" and set the "Time" of the feedback just right...it allows you to SOUND like you're playing many more notes than you actually are.  And if you really get good with it like the Edge or brian may, you can even harmonize with yourself!!  It's totally RAD GUYS!!  I highly recommend it.

Officially outraged?  Well if you're officially outraged by a thread that you choose to read...hmmm.

Well, believe it or not I do not nor have ever smoked or consumed cannabis in any of it's forms, I also don't drink because i never had fun being out of control or sick the next day.  So I've managed to get through being a full-time & part-time pro musician completely straight and sober.  Wow, did that suck...and still does.

I also have spent thousands of hours practicing, learning new songs, rehearsing with bands, and performing live to as little as 10 people to as large as 3,000 in the several decades i've been getting paid to perform music on any of the various instrument I'm lucky enough to be able to play well.

If you get past your own thinking and try to put yourself into the shoes of those writing - like me for example - you might find that at the root of all this is hurt and disappointment by a company and some of it's employees and other "Mafia" members making what used to be a joy to participate in, now a painful one.  I doubt there is a single person on any of these boards that has spent more time with any of their Line 6 gear than I have since 2003.  If there are - awesome!  How do they feel about things as they are now?  Are they as hurt by the company politics, or the seemingly the choice to be only bottom line profit margin conscious instead of what the company used to be.  I'm comparing apples to apples here.  line 6 is not what it used to be, but like so many other really amazing things that come out - I got hooked and now DEPEND HEAVILY on this gear to keep working and the new gear to be what it is marketed to be.  nothing more or less.

I just got back from band practice and am taking my time to write this.  If you don't like what I have to say - don't read it.  Instead do as you suggested...spark up that fatty and instead of playing, get high and chill bro. Me?  I'm going to have something to eat for dinner at nearly midnight and relax a bit in front of my Tivo.

so now I'm not supposed to read things with which I disagree...sounds like a time from past where censorship was at it's peak.

well sir, I'm just tired of all the bitchin' and moanin' about an update that's going to add a few features that seem to satisfy people's craving for more, more and still more. to me, it's seems excessive to put hi gain amps in an update when there are already enough to cover a whole lot of music. when i had an xt, the solo was one of my amps of choice but it didn't make me play any better. I'd rather see one that improves tone. remember, you bought the HD not knowing if an update would ever be available. so why fault the company if they want to make money, it'll keep them in business. everybody will benefit.

I also have many hours of practice learning songs, but most of them singing. I've sang in front of people since I was 8. hundreds of people. I'm not being  conceited when I say I am a very, very good singer. from the time I started singing I have always been the frontman. if you don't have good vocals, you better have extraordinary musicians.

I'm sorry i don't think like you, and i do understand your view. but getting emotional over corporate interest that no one can control is a waste of energy. the company wants to stay in business. hell man, the HD is being compared to something that cost 3 times as much. winning i might add. yeah line6  isn't what it used to be i guess but i still am. sure it's great to be able to use the gear to enhance you tone. somtimes though i find myself playing with the tuner engaged because i was busy amazing myself and never bothered to switch back. adapt and overcome.

i don't play in a band any more because i don't like playing covers and that's all anybody around here ever wants to do. besides that there's hardly anybody around here i know that plays an instrument. i'm content making my own music.

as far as smoking; i never said i did. the president did. but he did not have sexual relations with that women; monica lewinsky. if i had said have a beer would you have posted? and if you notice i said grab a doobie, crank the amp and jam.  by the way, if you don't like what i wrote, why did you read it!   (in bold for effect)

          Toneman,

I don't understand why people do what they do. I stopped trying to understand years ago. I DO however understand what you are doing!

There was absolutely no reason for you to post in this thread if you have nothing to add. Your comments, while valid, because that is how you feel, do NOT add any weight to the conversation at hand. You wanted to offer up your two cents so you could posture and pose as an "all knowing, see the light" kind of a guy.

Here is the light that I see: Meambobbo and MerlinFL are two guys that have posted a lot of positive and constructive things over the course of the time I have been around and have helped me in many ways, even though they don't know it. But that is just what they seem to do around here. What do you do and who do you and your opinions help?

Have you even taken the time to read through what Meambobbo wrote, assembled and prepared solely for the benefit of this forum and the L6 users? Look around and see who it is you are choosing to mess with and think before posting your personal opinions about what should and shouldn't be discussed. This discussion is one that is very real to a lot of us. If it is a joke to you then go into your "Music space" at your house and belt out a tune so you can REALLY be impressed with your vocal prowess. I find it just delightful that you have voted yourself into the hall of fame and are now trying to assist us in the error of our ways, I will however offer up that I for one don't care what your opinion is on this subject. It is not important to you what this thread is about so why interrupt?

I know Meambobbo and Merlin need no help from me, I just wanted to eat up a nice slice of the forum for myself and my opinions. Seemed appropriate.

my point in all of this is; why do adults have to ***** about not getting what they want when they want it? sounds like i'm in kindergarten again at  play time when you don't get the toy you want. nobody was promised anything. where, in my comment, was i negative about merlinf or meambobo's advice. not once did i refer to anyone personally. of course i read meambobo's advice. but i hardly pay attention to it because i don't understand all of the technical stuff he's refering to. i just know what sounds good.  i know his input is accurate and well appreciated and he gives alot. merlin sounds like he's bitter for having been removed from the beta testers. he must have done something to bring it on himself, you don't get canned for pointing out bugs and flaws in a system. especially if that's what your here to do. did you read the original post? if you notice the original poster meant this thread to be humorus and light. and it looks like to me he is referring to people who ***** about not getting what they want even before they post. i never referred to anyone personally. but if you want to be personal i can oblige. the importance of my comment is referring to, in some way, is what's wrong with society. want, want, want, gimme, gimme, gimme, now, now, now. you mean to tell me these updates are going to improve your playing? as for my singing, when your good your good. sorry i know it. when younger, i was immature, lazy, nieve and stupid. or you would be listening to me sing having made it in the music business. now i'm just lazy and stupid. notice how i don't attack you for your comments about my singing but reinforce the fact that i am a good singer.  mature. do you even know the subject of this thread? i'm not messing with anyone but that's not to say i won't or can't. if you want to mess i live near philly wise guy.

...i was going to just remain silent, to prevent from turning this thread from the joke it started as into a serious flame war, but seeing as my name is getting lumped into a lot of posts, i just want clarify how i feel about things rather than let anyone else try to speak for me.

i want to make sure everyone knows that half the time i post i am not being very serious.  i don't hold an ego on these things.

i'm not some kind of oracle of pod - i make mistakes and write inaccuracies just like everyone.  i have posted inaccuracies in my guide, and when pointed out i correct them.  i don't take it personally.  line 6 doesn't owe me anything, and neither does anyone who benefits from my posts.  people frequently disagree with me, and again, i don't take it personally.  if you feel i'm wrong and tell me and i test and disagree, then don't listen to me on that point.  it doesn't mean we're fundamentally at odds and can't otherwise be friends.

merlin and i have made guides designed to help other people dial in their pods, and we have given line 6 advice as to how they could improve the platform.  however, i do not hold any anger towards line 6.  maybe merlin does and maybe with good reason.  i don't know all the details, but if what he says is accurate, then i'd probably be too.  but i wouldn't let my frustration show on these forums as he has.  i'd probably just leave.  anytime it looks like i'm getting frustrated, i'm more than likely joking.

this thread has always been a joke to me - it started as a joke, and even though it's obviously become a real frustration for some people, i'm not clamoring for the slo models like them.  i am actually in the process of completely revamping my guide and patches, with a lot more research.  if you thought some of the stuff was technical before...don't bother this go round.  simply put, for now, i have everything i want from the Pod.  in fact i'm almost done my 2 year long tone hunt with the device, and I am nearly as GAS free as I've ever been.  On that point I have to thank Line 6; however, I will say they could have made it easier (0_o).  there are features that would improve the pod hd, but many of them i wouldn't say i'm even clamoring for.  many would simply give me a bit more DSP, so I can use an additional effect or higher quality effect to marginally improve my patches.

line 6 doesn't have to accept my offer.  it's not too good to be true.  and i think there are good reasons for them not to accept it, different from what merlin posted.  for instance, they might not want to expose their proprietary technology to someone so marginally attached to their company.  and i'd essentially be forking their current software, which might introduce complexity to merge it into their development efforts.  For instance, if I add something that consumes just 1% of DSP, this might make older patches break, and it may cripple or interfere with new features Line 6 is developing.

however, i do think the features i've listed are low-profile compared to their big picture and they have little to lose.  in particular, a mono reverb effect would be a godsend from a DSP standpoint, as well as being able to run one amp model into two cabs or vice versa.

so i invite everyone to go to their zen place, whether they get there through jamming, smoking doobies, drinking beers, watching Adam Sandler movies, doing linear algebra, or taking a nap.  On the other hand, if you feel the need to beat your wife, ***** about how Line 6 owes you free updates, personally attack individuals on this forum, or apologize for people's actions that you don't have the full story of, I advise to just stop and think: is it worth it?  This is time you could spend going to your zen place...

Well in quick response...I am hardly attacking or making personal comments about you as a person. I get close with the "posturing and posing" bits but you see, I for one do not need you to be my dad and point out why things that are being discussed are just childish complaining about things we feel we are entitled to. Go back in this thread and read what I have to say...in a nutshell I say that I am not eaten up or effected by the wait, I just would love to have that SLO sooner than later. Fact is we should be buying these amp upgrades in my opinion. They owe me nothing.

The rest of my post is sarcasm about your high regard for your abilities, true or not it is always tough to read someone brag on themselves.

And as for your tough guy coments; it is ALWAYS funny to have someone who has no idea who they are talking to in reality, make threats like "come to Philly and say that". what ever it is you said in your last  post you can rest assured if i get to come to vegas i am going to pay you a visit so we might resolve this animosity between us. if you are ever on the east coast let me know where you are and we can spend some time together to try to settle our differences. you see that picture i posted? it contains 95% of the signatures of the eagles roster. some big names, if you don't know. it might be worth some cash. my old man was there at the game and the dinner. the salutation on the inside cover says, regards bobby walston from art sharp'. either my old man was given it by bobby or he stole it. i sent that to pawn stars. if they think there is value in it, i will go to vegas to get it appraised. i will be on the show. then, i will come to your place and we can have a cup of coffee and discuss all of this face to face. forgive me if i come across as insolent or arrogant but i am writing this with a bottle of wine in me and i'm not sure how many beers. speaking of beers, i was playing some where called THE JERRY LEWIS CINEMA. at the start of the second set, a buddy of mine came up on stage, used a can opener to open the bottom of a can of beer. put it to my lips and pulled the tab. this is known as shotgunning a beer. not pertinent to the story but amusing none the less. shortly after that, a girl came up on stage and gave me a big wet one. the ax man. my dearest friend then informed me during the break. she had just performed fellatio on the rest of the band in his van; probably one of the first custom vans ever built for public retail. it had a fridge and a tape deck, shag carpeting, an air brushed painting of a gaucho on a horse tending sheep on the side of the van. it was bad, man. twenty years later he told me the story of the girl was all ********. she had never done what he had claimed, man did i laugh. i was telling people all that time what had happened to me. but i digress. i look forward to rick, big haus, chumly and the old man to contact me. love, peace

if i get banned from the forum for my radical ramblings, so be it. i still have my pod, i still can get UPDATES, when they are available of course.

funny? you don't know what's funny

again, written under the influence, but none the less sincere

                peace  love  soul

                again, sorry for my hostility.

To mcolquitt - I personally wish to thank you for writing such a very kind post about myself and MB.  I don't know him, but I like you have been helped and made to think in ways I most likely would not have if he had not spent the time in his research, testing, and personal gear trials.  he's found so many subtle things that I question my hearing tests giving me excellent/above average hearing as they are a very big part of my life as musician and engineer.  however, I digress - MB has found such amazing details in his pots that I went back and tried my best to hear what he was hearing.  I can't say I've found most, but I have found some that I'd not paid any attention to before his posts, but now I hear them clear as day and do what ever I can with the tools I have to compensate if possible.

Back to your post - yes, I did not know you were on these boards.  yes I had no idea you were helped by anything I've posted.  If you have followed the majority of my posts, they are usually answers, or suggestions to whatever the topic is.  I also never post about gear i have not used or know well.  I do also spend far too much time defending myself for anything I happen to say that is perceived as negative towards line 6 as a company, it's employees who i have had contact and conversations with, plus the "Mafia" as I've labeled them who just bully me on here along with my many posts regarding the "Expert" tag under certain names and not others.  Not because I'm an ego-maniac, but because I know from personal experience and asking around these forums, what that tag means to those who might not know how those tags were gotten.  My main gripe about those tags are that they were given out, not earned.  That's been stated in a previous post in detail why - so I'll leave it there this time.

Mcolquitt - Your post was refreshing and gives me hope that the majority are actually gaining knowledge, thinking in new ways, and being helped by my posts.  As a long time Line 6 person, I am 100% disappointed in how the company is being run since 2007.  I wish I could change it back, but that is not under my control.  I can however express how I feel at any time.  Don't believe anything I write about the company, I strongly suggest doing some research and homework and discover for yourself why I feel the way I do.

Thanks again so much for writing your post and I hope I can continue to help in any way possible.

            Take care,
            Neal

I know corporate law and there is NOTHING I've stated publicly that is priiviledged info.

You might want to check that NDA you signed again.  ANY discussion of the beta software, the beta program, that there IS beta testing going on, the contents or results of it, anything that might have been, or ANYTHING relating to it is a violation of your NDA.  You have made numerous statements in this thread alone that should have been privileged info.  And that's not slanderous or libelous.  It's a fact.

This is one of the reasons why you don't see me or some of the other experts posting a lot anymore because it is very difficult to remember what was divulged to us as a priviledged conversation and what is public knowledge.

Well since I couldn't figure out what you meant by the random statement you posted about numbers - I guess I'm too stupid to discern what is and isn't privileged info according to your statement of what the NDA I have tacked to my wall I'm sitting in front of now.  No way in hell does Line 6 own me or my thoughts & opinions forever because of a document I signed happily back in August 2009..  Especially since it was you (as you mentioned in one of your recent rants against me, or did I get that wrong too?) and "they" who kicked me out.  And they kicked me out for the reasons I've elaborated enough about already which I have in writing and on a taped phone conversation with the then JTV department head.

And if that is the reason Experts are hiding until the public release - good for them.  Perhaps when it's released publicly this time around it won't be as flawed as it was when I tried to stop the release because it had several serious flaws/bugs.  It's always been fascinating to me how little attention I get when I post positive things, but WOW do I get attention when I reply to something with what is relevant to the post I reply to.  Absolutely amazing!!

When this thread started - to be funny or not, did I write anything negative or inflammatory FIRST?  No I did not.  I even posted some humorous things to keep in the spirit of what this thread started out to be.  As I've been saying numerous times, I do not start the BS, it's people like YOU who do that or try to demean me if I post the facts as I've personally experienced them with this company and write down some of what took place and why.

And regarding this post of yours...

If there are a lot of job openings at Line6 for developers, and there is a promised update that is late in coming...do the math and draw your own conclusions.

The part about job openings and you tying that with the delays in the POD HD500/HDPRO updates.  That would lead me to the draw a very plain conclusion...You know the reason these updates are lagging behind is because Line 6 seems not to be able to keep developers/programmers/code writers employed for any length of time or even long enough to finish this one upgrade without having to recruit new blood to finish projects that aren't finished like the long-awaited update perhaps?

I think THAT is a very fairly drawn conclusion based on the statement written.

    Hello everyone,

We are currently working on a release and we are close to finishing our testing, so an update for the remaining POD HD500/Pro/Desktop units is definitely coming soon.  Please check our forums in the next couple of weeks for an update on our progress.

    Best regards,

This wait for amp updates for the HD500/Desktop is nothing compared to the wait for the still not functioning HD desktop used with FBV Express 2 in looper mode. That critical bug has not been fixed by Line6 even after 1 year of knowing about it.

Here is one of the threads about it:

I'm looking forward to the new release Hugo mentioned in the coming weeks and I really hope they fix the looper bug also.
