I hope Line 6 is all ready for Mountain Lion release, (Gold standard out today). I'm sure you are! Still looking for HDEdit for my iPad!
My Line 6 UX2 is not behaving and it's running their latest drivers. Line 6 Monkey 1.5.8 can't recognize my UX2.
The Line 6 Manager 1.0.5 does recognize both my Mac and UX2, but not Monkey.
Therefore, the Monkey doesn't list the current software install, or last firmware update, and I'm wondering if somewhere in that mess, this is causing all of the distortion coming from the UX2!
I ran Pod Farm 2.5.3 and it recognizes the UX2. The Line 6 control panel in the Sys Prefs recognizes the device, as does Logic, Amplitube, Garage Band, but not the Monkey!
I hope this isn't going to be like the last time, regarding corrupted databases and lousy managment.
I am running ML and my Mac rocks! Maya and ZBrush are wicked fast and responsive and my Wacom tablet makes it so creamy I could pass out from blood loss.
But, if not for that stupid Monkey, I could be jacked in and making the neighbors cringe.
This is unsat.
I installed Monkey 1.59 and launched Amplitube and every note screeches from the speakers.
meh, not a fix yet. I am reinstalling Pod Farm 2.5.3, even though Monkey 1.59 supposedly updated all drivers.
Monkey 1.59 gives me green checkmarks for each of the elements in my current configuration but the driver is wreaking havoc with my sound system.
I can bypass the UX2 and plug my guitar direct to my Mac and Amplitube is kicks neck.
What's the matter Line 6?
A reinstall of the Pod Farm didn't help. In fact, screw it.
My UX2 seems unusable (with latest drivers on Logic 9) at the moment, loads of distortion and very short delay on instrument input, no matter what I do about buffer size and other adjustments. :-/
@ andreasglummert: same here - line6, please fix it!!
Same here - using UX2 with POD Farm Version 1. Please fix it soon!
Same here. I recently update ML in iMac (2012). I am currently using UX1 with POD Farm 2 (newest drivers). Please, please, fix it.
Same here, Line6 UX1 on iMac i3 running 10.8 .... very distorted sound, I'm sure it's a driver issue ....
Please fix ....
Same here, using TonePort UX2 on iMac i5 late 2010... I need you fix it to work, please!!!
ive found that if you open podfarm2, then your daw, set up your project (save location) then you can close podfarm and not have any crackling, has worked for me today whilst using logicpro, quick fix till they get it sorted
I can confirm this fix is also working with garageband, no crackles at all so long as you open podfarm 2 up first.
This workaround doesn't work for me. When I close Pod Farm 2, I have no signal at all anymore in Logic
not to be patronising, but all the inputs are correct? and is this logic 9, cause thats all i tested on
and i tested on a ux2, dunno if this would make loads of difference though since theyre basicall y the same piece of kit
Yes, input is correct and yes it's Logic 9.
I also notice the sound in pod farm (before I start Logic) is only comming from the left channel and the mixer settings (panning) are set right... weird.
When I open Logic and leave Pod farm open the sound is crackled but comming from 2 speakers.
As soon as I then close pod farm, the sound is gone.
These settings have worked perfectly for my on 10.7.x (Lion) but since 10.8 it's all messed up...
same here, everything was before 10.8
unsure why the fix doesnt work :/ only guess is different hardware, sorry this didnt help
I have had this issue confirmed and there is a driver issue combinde with 10.8 mountain Lion. Issues like sound crackle or using 48V phantom Mic just won't work while recording will record just crap. I suggest you create and log a ticket with Line6 support mine is escalated and opened 2nd of August to USA but have not seen any fix or workaround yet. I have bought a lot of new instruments and condensator mic to start using my old toneport UX2 soundcard again and can't wait to try my new equipment but my options is to buy a new soundcard that supports 10.8 or wait for new drivers so hopefully there are new drivers available in a couple of days.
Hi,
I booted up Line 6 Monkey, as I've been having the same problem, and it notified me that there's an update available for the UX2 driver. I'm gonna give it a go and see if it sorts the audio distortion
Just thought I'd let you guys know an update of some sort was available, so we can all go back to rocking the hell out \m/.
That's interesting. I started my Line 6 Monkey yesterday and it still won't even recognise my UX2. And no notifications about any updates for the UX2 driver.
My problem might simply be that the Line 6 Monkey version is to old? If I download and install the latest Monkey I might be able to download a new UX2 driver that would solve the problem? Can anyone recommend what to do?
Thanks in advance - Johan
I had this too - just reinstall L6 Monkey as that worked for me. Latest version is 1.59 :)
What, wait? 1.59 fixed your problems?
It didn't cure my problem. I also downloaded the latest Pod Farm 2.55 released on the 29th of August, thinking this is the solution. Boy was I ever disappointed! Still the crackly noise with every note.
This is unsatisfactory for the engineers of Line 6. Apparently they're overlooking something in OS X 10.8's Core Audio APIs. I can bypass the Line 6 drivers and the UX2 and the sound is glorious!
Line 6, you've been relegated to the footlocker and are no longer part of the act. A Mac Book Pro has taken your place on stage.
Silly as it sounds, it's gone back to being all distorted and not working properly after a brief period of working just fine! I've downloaded all the latest updates, for both L6 Monkey, my UX2 and POD Farm.
How do you bypass the Line 6 driver and use Core Audio instead? I thought they all used CA anyway, and the Line 6 driver was just a compatibility one (so things like the VU meters work, etc).
I am having a problem with the Drivers installing for my POD X3 Pro. The program runs and says that it is installed but when I restart and run Monkey it says NO drivers installed. I am running on a Macbook Pro OS X 10.8.1 Mountain Lion, 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7 4 GB 1333MHz DDR3.
First, let me say, Monkey is suspect. Version 1.59 was released to correct problems introduced by its predecessor, so we have that unfortunate slip.
My advice to you would be to uninstall any and all Line 6 software and start over.
Disconnect any USB products connected to your Mac Book other than your X3 and just slug your way through it and hope it works out for ya'.
Failing that, you'll have to sit tight like the rest of us for 1.6 device drivers.
All, this is a Line6 known issue. I created a trouble ticket well over a month ago on this.
The last reply I received was on August 14th stating they are working on it. My case has been escalated. I urge you all to create trouble tickets so they put more resources on developing a fix...
Uninstalling everything WILL NOT WORK.. I've done a clean install of Mountain Lion on 2 different Macs (old 2008 and new Retina) both have the exact same issue. Do not waste your time.. Contact Line 6 now!
I'm tired of this issue...I've have several workarounds that get me there, but I'm not happy with workarounds when I've paid good money for everything I've purchased from Line6.
They're working on it, the check's in the mail, and I promise not to go in your mouth, yeah we know.... they're working on it.
There is no one there to tell them how to fix this and this community has no answers. This is a repeat of 2009 all over again and the issues with AMD/Intel bugs in Line 6 device drivers.
Line 6's answer to everything is start over and let me know how it worked out. When you tell them you did all that already, they'll advise you to draw up an RMA or submit a ticket.
We all know what's wrong, Line 6 engineers got sloppy, or the job of updating drivers was given to the new guy because it's mundane work and unexciting.
All it's going to take is for a major player on the world stage to start screaming because his Mac Book is screeching through the PA and then Line 6 will finally get off their *** and do something!
There are a lot of musicians who are forced to compromise their craft because Line 6's drivers are screwing everything up once again.
Kudos to Line 6 for delivering 7.1.9, which worked until now.
It was heavenly for a week and now that buzzzzzz that lingers on every note is back. It sizzles and cracks in the silence.
Honestly, this is frustrating for all involved. Line 6 suffers because this is a driver conflict and drivers are the lowest common denominator across a wide spectrum of gadgets of all price ranges.
In other words, those who count on Line 6 to put food on the table is getting madder.
Today, the sizzle is back and I ask, what's changed? Nothing! I restarted the Mac and launched the Pod Studio (first) and as usual, there is no sound coming from the speakers (the meters are working) and then launch Amplitube and voíla! sizzle and crackle and pop!
How depressing. Sigh....
I've even got this same problem under Windows 7 in AmpliTube 3! :O Exactly the same distorted screech that I get under ML on my Mac. I'm under Boot Camp on a 2011 MacBook Pro, even though that makes no difference.
On the plus side, I have a guitar tone that no pedal or amp - however expensive - can replicate
Maybe I can beat Kevin Shields of My Bloody Valentine at his own game, and perhaps thank Line6 for giving me my new signature tone ![]()
