Input settings for dream rig?

What is the best way to set this up? I'm trying input 1 "variax" input 2 "same" and then routing everything through the left side and muting the right. Is this the best way? I can't seem to get an acoustic model to make sound without an amp being selected. I would like to have a patch for acoustic with just compressor, eq and reverb. Thanks for the tips.

Re: Input settings for dream rig?

My prefered input setting for JTV/HD500/DT50 is input 1: VARIAX (sometimes VARIAX MAGS) and input 2 GUITAR. I am the opinion as some others in the L6 forums that input 2 SAME leads into a too high input signal which can cause troubles on clean guitar sounds. But I guess you will here some different opinions as well.

Routing your signal chain only through one channel (by muting the other) is not something I have ever felt a need for. Especially for the Acoustic sounds you have asked for, you are limiting your sound to a mono signal. Having a Acoustic preset with some stereo effects like Chorus I really recommend using BOTH signal channels.

For Accoustic parts I do the following signal path setup which works perfect for me:

JTV ---> Comp. --> NO Amp  (mixer panned to center) --> some MOD- effects, some EQs if needed ---> Studio EQ Gain Knob + approx. +12 db --> FX-Send.

The Studio EQ Gain Knob gives you uncolored gain as much you need (last in the signal chain and before FX-Send).

The FX-Send (which is a stereo device; set switch to line level) is connected to a Stereo DI-BOX. The DI-Box is connected to the PA-Mixer. I am getting a signal back to a FR-Monitor.

By having stereo effects in your signal chain (e.g. a chorus) gives you a true stereo sounds which can be nicely panned on the PA.

    hope that helps. wolbai.
