SOLDANO Solo 100 amp model MISSED

TOTALLY agree. Big mistake losing this amp asit has always been one of PODs strongest models in my opinion. . . .bring it back!!!
I'm in the process of selling my current gear, so I can get a HD 500 and a dt 50 2x12 combo. I have no doubt I'll be able to dial in some killer tones, but I must agree that the Soldano 100, has been my "go to" model on my POD XT Pro. I hope they do it also.
I miss this one too. Wouldn't mind if Line 6 went to an a la carte model with scaled back pricing versus the model packs, if it meant they could release missing pieces quicker. I'd pay $15 to $20 each for a key amp or two I wanted rather than just clutter the pod with stuff you may or may not use. Could always release the collections later at a discounted price from a la carte too. I think they would get more focused feedback on the models as they were released and probably beat out some of the technology leap frogging that happens in modeling.
Seems a few of you really do like the Soldano. Typically, a great may of the amp models I would never use but occasionally one comes along that really hits the spot. I hope they add it as there's soooooo many Marshall modelings. Boogie Mk 2c simul-class too has it's own flavour. Graeme
I too miss the Soldano. was my goto amp model. I hope they bring it back!!!!!
I have to chime in on my love for the Soldano model too!
Out of ALL those amp models on the X3 that was the cleanest sounding distortion for my ears!!
Agreed. I admit I'm a recent Line 6 user (switched from the GT-6 to the HD500) and the first thing I looked for was a Soldano model which was unfortunately unavailable.
Here's another vote in favor of bringing back the Soldano SLO 100 model - I've purchased the original Flextone, Flextone II, Flextone III, and Vetta, and the SLO 100 was always the model I used for gain patches. Line 6 - BRING IT BACK (please)! ![]()
It's my favourite amp model too, it's also the only high gain I use on Pod Farm too, if they don't add it soon my HD500 is up for sale, I don't like the Rectifiers or Uberschalls or Fireball, far too much of the same thing for me. The Marshalls are also not of the high gain type either. The HD is living on borrowed time for me.
You might want to try the Fireball again, but turn the gain down to about 10 o'clock, then EQ to taste. Last night I was able to get a tone very close (in fact, maybe better) to what I was looking for. The key for me was to move the EQ to the very end of the effects chain (just before the looper) and adjust as desired. I'll find out for sure if it works the first time I gig with it, but in my studio it sounds really good.
I'd still like the SLO 100 model back though!
To be brutally honest, I not really bonded with the HD500, I find the front end interface to be clunky, the nice big screen to have been wasted by using tiny icons and have been dissapointed by the overall amp selection. The lack of a British type high gain kills it for me somewhat. I hear what your saying though about using eq in the post postion. I will give it a try later on today. ![]()
I was a huge fan of the Soldana model. I've used it for 80-90% of my live tones in both the XT and X3. Really hope the add more amps (I'd even pay for the Soldano model).
While I was pleased with the focus on quality over quantity - and the specific selection they chose - I must admit that I will miss the Soldano model.
I was thinking it might be a good idea to see if we can get people spitballing a bunch of ideas, then creating a poll once we've got at least a dozen or so. That way Line 6 will have some guidance straight from community over which models they should focus on for an HD model pack (or perhaps individual models for purchase).
That is, of course, assuming that the HD series is capable of expansion. While the HD500 is well-suited to it, the rotary knobs of the 300 and 400 seem like they would be prohibitive.
I also miss the soldano model as I had in the XT live. It was a clear and full bodied sound. I have come close with the deluxe and the marshall amps running simultaneously, with eq after everything, then with a volume pedal at the end of the lot so I can back off if necessary without losing drive.( If I do want to clean up a bit, rolling the guitar back a bit helps enough.) The deluxe sound I use is set to break up, but paired with the marshall sound (pretty gainy) gives a bit of clarity and less of a fuzzy distortion. I use the pod if Im travelling as it blows out my income on excess baggage to travel with a rack. :-) When I have run the pod through a mesa 20/20 or a 2:90 and can get those breaking up a bit, the sound is pretty massive, but again not practical for travel where Im having to take my own gear. Generally when travelling Im running into a small desk and then to in ears. The xlr straight to FOH with the 1/4 jacks to my small desk for mixing with foldback, sending to the in ears. Working great, but trying still to get a more pure unfuzzed gain. The mix of these 2 amp models is getting close though.
I agree that the Solo 100 was a great amp - I recently went back to check out what sounds I could get out of PodFarm having spent a few months getting used to the HD500. Here's a piece of Slither by Velvet Revolver. Two takes panned hard L and R, flubbed a bit of the playing, but I love the tone I'm getting out of the guitar.
Here's hoping L6 adds that Soldano 100 back into the mix, and soon!
Cheers,
Fester2k
Wow! That sounds sweet. I am looking forward to hearing what you come up with on the HD. ;-)
Superb sound

Thanks, guys! It's a modified version of a patch from PodFarm called "Messing w/ Sasquatch." If I can remeber tonight, I'll post the patch, along with the eq treatment I did within Reaper to get the sound.

I am all for Soldano Solo 100 model, I played my friend's Flextone III a long time ago and that was one tone that really caught my attention, so I went ahead and bought Vetta. I still have Vetta thats one the best amp (and Soldano is the best amp model). I recently also bought HD500 and thats what I really missed in HD, I can see great clarity and tone difference (much better) for Marshalls in HD compare to Vetta, so I am sure Soldano will kick ***. what was the reason this was dropped? some licensing issues? patent? copyrights?
+1 for the Soldano. I really miss it. If enough of us keep requesting it I have to assume they'll realize the demand for this model is real.
My buddy has the Elevenrack and is always trying to tell me how much better it is than the POD HD. The only thing I like more about the 11R is the Soldano model. Would love to see that on the POD HD!
I love this amp
and im on the fence about getting a HD 500 because of it.
I use it for all my distortion sounds
(and I use the line 6 clean for all my clean sounds)
I forget what I use for intermediate.
So I think they got rid of all of them that I use, D'oh
I was wondering what would get me closest if I DID buy a pod HD 500?
heres some clips of what I have currently, these are a couple years old so they are missing some tweeks but still
yeah......i love the SLO........and would LOVE to have an SLO model in my HD500
I agree, PLEASE bring back the SLO!!!
Damn. I was looking forward to checking out the HD desktop -- but now, I think I'm going to have to stick with my XT -- I think the Soldano is almost all I use!
+1 for bringing back the SLO100!
firmware update v1.3 is out and no Soldano ....... WAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH ![]()
+1 for the Soldano SLO 100 !!!
I bought my Pod XT for this one, after listening a supa nice cover of Cupid's Dead on Youtube. Terrific !
Bring it back, please Line 6 !
Oh man, I second this request! I really want my Solo 100 in my POD HD500. I just made the upgrade from the XT Live to the HD500 and, in spite the great sound quality, I can't help missing that Soldano model.
Well, I have to admit that the SLO 100 was my second favorite amp at my xt.I prefer the modern high gain (the soldano X88R) but anyway, a soldano (no matter the kind) would be really welcome!
I miss the modern high gain and criminal mississippi (Soldano and 5150)
Bro, I remember, I used the modern high gain most of all...It's distortion was so great..I manage to recreate at a good rate its sound with a tread and a screamer, but is not the same...Too bad line6 let out a lot of their great models...
I returned my HD500 within 30 days and spent my money on an Eleven Rack which has 3 soldano models and kicks ***!!! Best decision I've made.
I got an HD500 at Christmas. I was really excited until I couldn't find any decent amps that sounds like the Soldano SOLO 100. This is the amp I use on the X3 Live and just love it. The clean sounds are great but it wasn't enough for me to keep it so it got returned to the store. If Line 6 comes out with a Soldano SOLO 100 amp on the HD 500, I will rethink about purchasing another one. That amp is a killer!
Regarding their news post, there won't be any Soldano in the next firmware update:
http://line6.com/news/general/1200
But I think If you spend a lot of time tweaking, you will be able to find the sounds you like with the HD500. This unit just needs a lot more of tweaking to get the desired result.
I also had the X3 Live (also XT Live) before and was very dissapointed in the beginning. Now after 2 month I tweaked some really good sounds that are even better then the one on the X3 Live.
Genarally in my opinion people from Line6 now contcentrate to much on compatibility to their other devices than on the sounds itself or usability and quality. Also it seems they do not listen to their costumer that much anymore. I think this was one of the key to get as successful as they are - they really should think about their philosophie now and compare it with the aims and philosophie they had in the beginning.
Just my opinion though - i like my HD500 - but after the time on the market, there are still some issuses many people requested to fix and nothing happend.
It's clearly a pity ... The SLO 100 is the favourite Line 6 users amp.
Anyway, do we have a date for this new update ?
As far as I know the release will be within 2012 Q1
Hi guys, I'm the author of the original posting. It's really encouraging to see how many of you feel the same way about the SOLDANO Solo100. I've got a feeling that the HD400 isn't expandable as for almost 2 years there hasn't been anything forthcoming except for a few extra modifications to existing amp models. I wonder if the assocation Line6 now has with Bogner is at the core of reducing the US high gain amp models. I have to admit that I don't quite understand the addition of some of the pawn shop models but I just miss the the SOLDANO ............ I'm not into the angle grinder chain/saw sound. I may have to repurchase a XT Live and reprogram it.![]()

Hi Guys ,
Like you I miss the Soldano 100 and maybe if everydody send a request here:
http://line6.com/company/contact/productfeedback/
The Lines 6 God might listen to us and include The Soldano 100 in the next update...
Soldano 100 Head PLEEEEAAAAASE!
I agree 1000 percent, loved that model on my old live3 plus would like to have a mesaboogie lone star model
The Soldano 100 was and still is my go to sound in both my POD XT Live and my X3. In fact..I am not giging with my HD500 any further until I can work something out that;'s comparable. I don't want a squeezed to death/ Razor blades in ears metal tone. I've got lots of jangl/y crunchy tones already. But my Go to / Never fails me tone had been the Soldano and HD doesn't have it.
I'll continue to use the HD 500 but it won't be until I getthese next few months of gigs out of the way.
PS. I've already spent 4 intense weeks with it at the studio and at band practice and have developed a love /hate feeling to it. Give me the Soldano 100 back and I'll be happy man.
WTF? The Line6 team never reply on forum thread? This AMP is absolutely necessary for a lot of people! SO PLEASEEEEEE ADD THE SOLDANO SOLO 100! We ask for it! We need it! We want it! Wake up Line6 Team
If you have an HD300/400, you now have SLO-100 clean, crunch & overdrive! Should be "coming soon" for HD500/bean/pro. lol
Really? This is a great news bclarke675! Do you know when it was added to the 300 and 400? I hope to have it very soon on my 500!
Thanks!
a couple of days ago
any word of when this will be available on the HD500??
Oh yea, I heard just last week that it would be......[flash]......
Why I am posting here? Who am I and what is Line 6? ![]()

Has anyone heard if Line 6 has even acknowleged that the Soldano SLO or the other amps will be available for the HD 500 or HD Pro? Not looking for a release date (although that would be nice)...just looking for confirmation if they are coming at all....can't see why not but would like official Line 6 input if possible.
I asked the question some time ago and a member called Silverhead (line6 expert) said the update was to be expected soon....whatever that means...so I guess there's no problem, it will be available on the hd500...besides Line6 always made it clear from the beginning onward that all POD models would offer the same amp models...and that would somewhat be a dangerous move business-wise not to stick to their words.
The firmware update page for the HD 300 / HD 400 now says "Coming soon to the HD 500" ... Excellent news! Can't wait! This is why I love Line 6. The products sound fantastic and they actually listen to their customers. Almost everyone in the "vote for you new favorite HD models" threads have said Soldano SLO 100. So to them and Line 6 I say THANK YOU! I will patiently wait!
A great video with a sound test on HD300... I hope to have it soon on HD500 with this amazing sound!!!
Nice sound and subtle delay used. Love to know the settings... ![]()
Great tone and great playing. How were you recording this?
Hi guys, I'm not the talented guitarist on the video. He his Paul Hindmarsh and if you want the settings and patches, you only have to subscribe to his facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Paul-Hindmarsh-Music/176458272405448
Hope this help
I haven't heard an update on this topic lately, but I fired up Line 6 Monkey last night and saw that there was a new firmware update available.
After updating, I checked the available amps, and there were the three Soldano models, along with two new hi-gain Line 6 models!
I'm surprised I haven't seen any posts from HD500 users about finally having these amps.
Here's the Pod HD discussion forum - it's more active than this user group. There's plenty of chatter about the new update here:

What a ******* good sound I have with the Soldano!! Thanks a lot for this update Line6 team. I can finally create my EVH early sound ![]()
Yeah!!!!! We were all waiting for it.....

Uploading it to Customtone would be *******great!!!!
Interesting, that's how I got my early EVH sound on my X3 live. So I've gotten close with my HD500 but the Soldano is slightly different in the 500 and I've only had time to try to get it with the crunch Soldano. My X3 Live sound was SPOT on and took me years to get. One main "trick" to getting it is adding a "screamer" before the amp. That's how I got it on the X3. Was playing around with the Soldano and just happened to put the "screamer" on it. BAM, instant EVH. Did have to do a little tweaking but I finally got it Add some script phaser every now and then, some echo and some reverb and mix well. Don't go too crazy with the drive on either the "screamer" or amp. It'll be too much. And this is using the Les Paul bridge pickup on a Variax.
I installed the updates last night and although I could only use hook up the HD500 to my mixing desk at home and use head phones, I'm pretty delighted with the new Soldano amp models, once again, many thanks Line 6 for another grand update. Of course I set it all up with cabs on and Studio direct. Looks like I can start recording again.
Tonight and tomorrow I am gigging so I will provisionally set up the same bank of 4 patches I normally use (copy the bank) and replace them with the PRE versions of the Soldano and see what I get with the DT50 head. I expect a little volume balancing but I reckon I can have a good sound before the end of the first set. The venue I'm playing tonight is very cramped and not many attend (usually) so I can place my amp head right next to me on the top of a pool table for easy 'on the fly' tweaking and a quick bend down to hit the save button. I knew there was a darn good reason for buying the head instead of a combo.
Any advice on which topology would suit the 3 Soldano Pre amps whould be most welcome, I have provisionally selected II
Thanks Line 6
I've just updated it about an hour ago. Near midnight here and I cannot really get it pumping, but have come up with a patch based on the crunch model that I think sounds great. I went with topology IV and as I am using it with the DT-25 I have removed the cab.
Can't wait for morning so that I can give it a run at gig level!
This is what I did too. I'm using the SLO crunch and the screamer. But I really have difficulties do find the good parameters for the phaser and delay. The delay is really a nightmare for me. To create a patch for Ain't talkin' 'bout love, it's necessary to put the time to 300ms but I can't find the good echo sound. I played around with all delay models, feedback, mix, and so on but the result is not good. Well, the echo doesn't sound good for me until now.
Also, what topology are you using with the SLO?
Sorry I should have specified. This is going Studio Direct through a couple of nearfiled monitors so I have no topology.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
