I'm glad you found a solution; I still haven't. Unfortunately, I would bet that the fact that yours worked after you moved it was a coincidence. I say that because it's not likely at all that these problems are due to electronic interference: none of us had any problem until we upgraded our OS to Mountain Lion. Any noise from interference, if there was any, would have been there before the software upgrade.
That said, I have no idea what the problem could be, but it's almost certainly a software issue, not a hardware issue, because this is affecting a number of different Line 6 product models.
As has already been said many times throughout this message forum, shame on you, Line 6. This is without a doubt the worst and most frustrating software support problem I have ever experienced!

I'm sorry that this wasn't any help to you. I wouldn't know much about mountain lion at all. I dislike mac computers with an insane pasion, I use windows. Mac computers are nothing but garbage in a fancy shell. A newly formed company by the name of apple found a way to polish a turd and persuade everyone to buy it because of its fancy retro look.

Glad you found a solution!!
Currently I think the issue most Mountain Lion users are having may be related to the drivers (but I don't think you are using a Mac).
But if tech support did not point you to the USB Troubleshooting guide, that is indeed a shame, that is usually one of their first recommendations for snap, crackle, pop, hizzle, sizzle... issues.
#6 on the guide does instruct to disable wireless networking devices as part of the troubleshooting process.
As for the ML issues, there was a work around that opening POD Farm first would resolved the rice crispies, but then Apple updated ML, and Line6 released a new driver. It seems one or the other, or both confounded the issue. I do hope Line6 gets this ironed out soon, I know how frustrating it is and can only imagine how many Mac users or getting turned off.

Like the Rice Crispies definition . Where I'm from (and where I live now) it's called Rice Bubbles, but the snap, crackle and pop happens at breakfast all over the world

I don't know where that noises came from, but I've foud that some actions ussualy stop them:
- turning of Wi-Fi at home (and in Laptop or PC);
- restarting computer and turning of the TonePort form AC for a while;
- unplug and plug TonePort;
- reinstaling drivers;
I think that very good idea is to make a computer only for recording music. I'm gonna try to build something like: no graphic card and sound card, no internet, no any games and programs, Internet connection, ect in that PC. Just Windows, DAW, TonePort drivers, big hard drive, RAM and integrated graphic card.

How can we use our new device when the crackling makes it substandard? (POD HD500)
IMAC27 - 3GHZ (quad), 8GBRAM what is up - dispose in a large fire?

Hey guys, I'm coming to say goodbye! Thanks a lot for the company these months. I'm moving to a new device, new life. It's been more than 6 months without a minute recorded without those explosion in my ear and I got pretty tired of it.
Hope you guys make a little money to escape from this too.
Here is the end of my suport ticket that was opened on Sep 21th:
First when I tried to update using Monkey the app was shuting down (tried to reboot the system a lot times...) I'm sending it atached.
Then I installed the new driver. Recorded for 5 minuts and then it exploded once again with that big noise that goes fading away in 30 seconds. After it's gone when I say something on the mic it has a little pop too.
And this was the end of the line for me. The end of Line6 2. I'm really impressed with the **** support you and your crew gave me and the other users.
Not only took more than 6 months to release a new driver but there was the lack of transparency and the absence of true information for us.
You may shut this support ticket down because I'm throwing this device on the trash now. I'll never buy Line6 products and will try to tell everyone about this pleasant story we had.
So long, thanks for nothing.
