Using a 150 watt head without the cabinet

I was wondering if it is all right to use the 150 watt spider IV head with out the cabinet attached to it. When I purchaed this amp from a local music store the owner of the store said not to use the head with out the cab being plugged in because it will break the head. I want to use the head with out the cabinet sometimes because it is such a pain to move the cabinet back and forth and there is a studio trx out on the back of the  head that I use sometimes which turns the cab off I think.

Plugging into the DI/headphone output on the amp effectively disconnects the power amp circuit in Spider IV amps. There have been numerous threads here asking the same question and Line 6 has recommended that the cabinet always be left plugged in to prevent any possible overload/imbalance - if you unplug the DI line, or forget to plug it in before turning on the amp, there is always a slight possibility of damaging the output section of the amp.
