Still Got The Blues - Outro Solo with JTV59

This song chases me since years. I always felt that the song was too complicated to me and I thought of it as something sacramental I was afraid to desecrate.

Gary Moore IS one of my unattainable teachers in mind. And this song is indeed a challenge for every guitar player. The vibrato and bending technique of him is very advanced (at least to me). Any slighty wrong bending is penalized immediatelly with bad sounding in this song :-(

I am playing the Outro-Solo around 85% compared to the orginal take. I watched Gary Moore on Youtube. He never played the song exactly the same. I think therefore it is okay to play some parts in "the style of him".

I am not completly on spot with it: some slightly bending mismatches, some timing challenges and a few licks that doesn't sound very smooth. But I am getting into the right direction. I use these type of recordings for songs of that calibre for preparation of the live performing.

Old shool guitar playing is asked: using the PU-knob and the guitar volume knob is important.

I recorded it directly with the JTV59 (using the magnetic PUs) and the HD500 and a Full amp model of the Treadplate. I initially tested it with the JCM800, but the sustain of the Treadplate sounded better to me.

For the second part there is a very noticeable PU-Knob switch where the guitar sound somehow opens a completely new room which I am always fascinated how he did it. To work that out, I switch from pos. 3 to pos. 1 on the JTV59 AND I am pushing some amp parameters and effect parameters with the EXP-1:

- amp Drive

- amp presence

- screamer drive

- mix delay

- mix reverb

In case of interest, these are 2 Lead presets:

1. Full amp model for exercising with Headphones and the HD500:

2. Pre amp model for use with a DT50/25 live performance:

By the way: I have checked all my presets again, whether to use cab sims/on or off, because I have bought an additional 2x12 cab which changes the overall sound. For the Treadplate it ended up with cab sims off. I guess because the two 2x12cabs or more closer to the real 4x12 Treadplate cab than my DT50/212 did it before (before I had cab simms on for the Treadplate model).

Finally this is the link to the free of charge playback:

Hope you like it.
