Vetta II Combo update issue

Good day all. After spending 2 days reading most of the post on here I see that this seems to be a rather common problem. I tried to update my "new to me" Vetta II combo last night. I have a Tascam us-122 that I was going to use as my Midi interface. I have no problems with it when I connect to my Vetta and use my Midi program. I can send Midi dumps to it without a problem. I can send Midi files from the program to my Vetta with no problem. I can even use the Monkey to recognize the Vetta with it. However, when I try to open Line 6 Edit....it shows the Vetta, but will not load anything due to "Communucation Error". I also tried to update to 2.5 firmware, but when I get to the first step where I am suppose to turn it off, then back on holding down COMP I get nothing on the screen. So being the genius person that I am, I hit TAP to cancel and the amp goes back to normal operation. I was going to go get the M-Audio UNO today at GC when they open, but I want to find out that if I get the same screen issue with it....should I just hit EDIT to keep going with the update or hit TAP and just call it a wash? Any help out there would be great. I suppose I will try the Line 6 Edit program first to see if I can get it to show up properly with all my patches in it, but if that doesn't work either....is there any remedy out there?
If it were me, I would NOT risk a software update unless and until everything is going just right and behaves exactly as it should. Just be sure you are following their procedure exactly. I wouldn't want to risk bricking the amp. Wait till you get the correct cable and do everything step by step exactly as they say. Sometimes using some patience and taking the conservative approach is the best policy, especially if time isn't a real concern.
I am so brilliant!! I went into the display contrast setting and played around with it. I had turned the temp ON for both and had the contrast up as high as I could cause it looked best to me. I turners temp OFF and rolled the contrast down and ....... Bingo! I'm in business doing the update. Can see everything perfectly!
Who'd a thunk it?
Good for you that you got it working though.
