When i connect the pod to my pc via usb i cant hear what im playing. Strange thing is that when i connect to my laptop i can!!
The sound is there as i can record and see the signal level when playing, also when i play back the recording i can hear it, Just cant hear what im playing as i play it.
Ive checked all the computer settings (windows 7) and they all seem the same as my laptop.
Any advice?
Cheers
Are you using Pro-Tools, Cubase, Logic, or Garageband etc?
Windows machine running windows 7. If only garageband was available for pc!!
Im just basic recording through audacity.
The USB/ASIO on POD HD is not designed for live PC audio. It is for recording and configuration only. Either run a line to your PC's sound card aux input, or attach powered speakers to your POD HD.
How come it works on my laptop? Also on our singers pc it works as well? Surely its just a volume ive not turned up somewhere?
Hey kickbackbaz,
please take a look at your ASIO driver. You might have different driver settings:
START>ALL PROGRAMS>LINE6>TOOLS>Line6 Audio-&MIDI Devices.
Click on register tab "Inputs & Recording".
When plugged through USB the "Hardware Monitor Level" is active. When it is set to minimum, you cannot hear your POD HD when connected over USB at first. Change it to maximum level.
Let me explain: This silder exists for recording audio over a recording software. Sometimes you do not want to hear the sound that comes directly from the POD HD, you only like to hear the monitored sound over the audio software. Example: If you use additional effects on the guitar track, you do not want to hear the direct sound from your POD, you want to hear the sound with extra effects from your software.
So finally you may have to change the settings from time to time.
Ok ive tried that. was already set at maximum. Still no sound??
If you are hearing your POD thru PC/Laptop speakers when connected only via USB, you likely have "Monitoring" turned on in your DAW.
Or you are selecting different input and output devices in your DAW which is not consistent with the ASIO protocol.
I've assumed connecting your boxes or headphones directly at the POD, not listening sound over another soundcard or buildt-in speakers!
Stay in the mix and in the know.
