using pod farm 1.12, tone port ux-2 and cubase - do I need a special licence?

A colleague has bought the older toneport ux-2 and has a copy of pod farm 1.12.
I haven't used pod farm before so I'm coming at this blind, but I don't think he's bought a licence.
It works as a stand alone, but keeps mentioning that there is no device connected when trying to use it as a vst.
Is this because he doesn't have a licence for it?
Cheers

the older toneports did not come with a plugin license... only standalone....
so it's working as it should...
you'd need to get a pod farm 2.5 license to enable the VST functionality
Thanks pal
I'll pass the message on.
