POD HD500 with hexaphonic/piezo pickups (digital tuning related)

Hi guys,
could you please tell me if it's possible to use hexaphonic or piezo pickups with the Pod HD500 in order to achieve a polyphonic tuning (similar to the Tyler Variax system)?
I currently use a Morpheus DropTune which doesn't work that bad, but since it must process a mono signal, its results are not always good enough (especially with arpeggios to my ears), so I was wondering if there's a better way to digitally detune my guitar.
Thanks! ![]()

it's not possible
the different tunings with the Variax are possible thanks to the software inside the guitar, which can be controlled also by the HD500
Yup. What he said.
too bad ![]()
So there's no similar system on the market (Line6 or third-party) to digitally tune the guitar string-by-string the way it's done on the Tyler Variax, right?
Anyway I'd really like to have an external Variax module, something like the Roland GK-3 that can be easily attached to your favourite guitar. Fingers crossed ![]()
You can do alternate tunings with the GK-3 paired up with the Roland GR-55 or VG-99
thanks for your suggestion. D'you mean using a GR-55 or VG-99 along with the HD500 or in place of it?
The GR-55 and VG-99 can be used with the GK-3, this is separate of the POD HD series. The GK-3 allows you to send separate signals for each (of 6) strings to the GR-55 or VG-99. I personally do not own a Variax (yet) GV-99 or GK-3. But all that will change when I win the Power Ball tonite!!!! ![]()
eheheh good luck then! ![]()
Yeah, I was just wondering if you consider those units as good alternatives to POD, especially in the amp modeling park. I ask because I don't really like the idea of adding another piece of gear to my setup but - on the other hand - the COSM modeling technology doesn't sound as good as Line 6 to my ears (through YouTube vids only, though) so I guess it couldn't completely replace the HD500.
I could enjoy having acoustic tones at my disposal on stage, but it's not that important considering I'd use them for a couple of tunes at most; all the other synth features would be realistically useless at this point for me, since I'm the rhythm player/singer in my band.
Right now my main goals are a)having a solid rhythm tone and b)swapping tunings without changing guitars. Adding a GK-3 and a GR-55 almost exclusively for the tuning purposes would be a bit too much I suppose. A perfect solution for my actual needs would be a pickup like this http://ubertar.com/hexaphonic/ and a detuner (just like the Morpheus Droptune) able to process its 6 individual signals to increase accuracy then sending out a mono standard guitar signal (with maybe a stereo option) to feed the POD.
For now I guess I'll just change the tuning on my guitar to the lowest I need (drop C) then use a capo for the upper ones. It's not like having properly tuned guitars but I'm already used to play with capo, plus this way I could avoid digital transposition of a mono signal at least.
I don't think the Morphous Droptune accepts 6 discrete channels, so you can use it without special pick-ups to change the tuning, but it would change all strings equally.
yeah, it doesn't (I have it in my current setup). It does a pretty good job considering it processes a mono signal, but it would obviously be a lot better if it could process 6 individual signals, one for each string. Hope to see something like that in the future ![]()
