Dude, f#ck you. "Compensation for your findings"??? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. There IS NO WORKAROUND for the Mountain Lion 10.8.2, and that's that. Now stop being a d-bag and wasting everybody's time.

adaniel87- Amen, brother. Good to see someone else telling this jerk off for the nonsense he's been writing. He's trying to scam money out of people on here and I'm not having it. Plus, I guarantee you he hasn't found a solution to the problem.

Well, I'm done here. I guess I'll check back some day to see if they've ever fixed the problem but I'm now using an Apogee JAM. It's smaller and sounds even better somehow. Clearer, I guess, is the word I'd use. Good luck everyone!

Just adding my voice to the annoyed.

I've been following this thread (http://line6.com/support/thread/86555) as my issue is more to do with the UX1 killing all USB devices plugged in at the time it flakes out.  Either way, the product is useless at the moment.

Adding my voice of concern as well.

I just spent the last hour going through my entire setup, checking pedals and cables alike, only to end up with the rather annoying conclusion that it's my Toneport GX.

Symptoms: every so often, a distorted/crackling feedback-ish noise pops up and slowly fades away over a period of 10 seconds only to pop back in after some time (generally speaking, 2-3 times during a song).

Just after the Mountian Lion release I had the same issue, but back then the signal was constantly distorted, a driver update fixed that, but it apparently hasn't been fixed fully after all these months. Not too amazed with Line6 here.

I'll probably go and check for a new USB interface for Christmas if this doesn't get fixed soon.

Using guitar Gx as an audio recording input and systemwide output, after 10.8 upgrade sound cuts and "laggs". Updated drivers, firmware ... No change!  Getting ******!

I understand you fully and ofcourse I don't claim anything from users in this forum. I have just told Line6 that I am more than willing to share my findings when I am sure that will fix recordings for everyone having these issuses. Line 6 didn't like my suggestions while i have not got any feedback but I am sure they will solve these issues by themselves. To be honest I think everyone having this issuses are in need of some compensation.

I have also tried all workarounds suggested but that won't solve anything, my findings most likely also explains why it works for some users and some not.

Sorry if I upset you in this matter, that was not the purpose. This was more supposed to be a statement to Line6 that there might be worth something for them to find the root cause of this issue. First after root cause findings are a fact they can share a solution for everyone.

    Hi!

Line6 has not been to any help for me even though I found a good workaround for this issue they were not interested in compensate something for this to let others have a working workaround. I have now been using the UX2 with 10.8.2 mountain lion for about 3 month even though line6 have not been solving this issue for 6-7 month. There is christmas now and I think it would be fair to share my findings if it could be to any help for others having the same issuses that I had.

Ok first of all you need to install the latest drivers from Line6 (7.1.7), you will still have these issues after installing these drivers. Might work one out of 10 or so. If you have the UX2 when popping and cracking sound is back you should do the following.

    1. Press and turn on the 48v phantom power so that the red lap is on

    2. Turn off the 48v phantom power again (the new drivers and 10.8.2 with Apple has changed some power outage for the usb port and Ux2 seems to have a condensator that needs to be 100% empty of power)

    3. Now you should remove the USB cable, (Important don't remove the USB cable from the computer!!!!!, remove the USB cable from back of the UX2 device very important that you do this!)

    4. Wait about 10 sek with the usb cable removed

    5. Plug in the USB cable in the back of the UX2 device again.

    6. Workaround is ready and the popping and cracking sound should be gone!

Now you can aldo turn on the 48v phantom power if needed, repeat this procedure if you have the strange sounds again after hibernation of your laptop etc.

Happy Christmas all of you and I hope you can do some recordings again without the irritating sound. It might work to only follow and repeat step 3-6 abow also. The reason most of the people have not found this workaround is that 90% of all users are removing the cable from the laptop probably including the Line6 support then....

This is verified with Garageband but probably this solution works for Logic and other programs too.

There is still an issue with the Line6 drivers while there is not possible to use Mic and Instrument at the same time even though there is a setting for this within the drivers and operating system settings for Line6.

I was about buing a new guitar from Line6 the new Variax JTV model but I have changed my mind while I can't take the risk to have to wait for driver updates and fixes while I assume there is similar issues with all the gear. I think I will  look at the fender by roland guitar instead, more limited in its software but the product seems to be verified and working out of the box without any built-in features.

Happy Christmas and a good new year!!

(Have tested the new 7.1.9 driver that states should adress this issue but there is still the same issue if you unplug the usb cable etc so there is no 100% fix) But I can confirm this workaround works even with the 7.1.9 driver version for those of you that still has these issues.

Thanks for the this!! Glad to see that you're trying to help everyone out since Line6 doesn't seem to be... I just tried this and unfortunately for me it did not help. However, for those that read this and become discouraged don't be! I have the crackling issue BUT I also have an issue that both of my usb ports die when trying to use the UX2. I didn't even open up PodFarm or any other audio software. I did as described above, and when I was turning up the volume on my computer my UX2 just died along with my mouse, since it was plugged into the other USB port. What's weird is they still have power. If I plug my phone into my USB to charge it, it will still charge. This is really really frustrating...

Thanks again though for a possible solution! I really hope it helps out the folks with the crackling issue.

Same problem here, am I the millionth one?

I wished I had read this thread (and the many others) before upgrading to Mountain Lion yesterday. After trying everything (including installing latest Monkey & drivers of course) I resorted to my last option: restoring to my 10.7 backup.

OS X 10.8 has been out for a while now and it's very concerning that Line6 hasn't been able to put out a fix for this by now considering the huge number of people reporting exactly the same problem.

I get marketing emails from Line6 every week, they know the hardware I have and the least they could have done would have been to give us some kind of warning, I wasted hours on this, plus the $20 I paid for Mountain Lion which I'm not going to use now.

Something to think about next time I'm spending gear money.

    Hi!
I am facing the same problem. Mountain Lion (10.8.2) POD HD 500 with latest firmware,

    driver.
    My support-ticket was anwererd:

"... This issue could be related to a number of things. First check your connections.

Have you tried connecting to different USB Ports? Are you using a USB hub?

Make sure you have the latest drivers installed: http://line6.com/software/

Then try the optimizations in our USB Troubleshooting Guide:
    http://line6.com/community/docs/DOC-4282"

I can not believe, that this issue isn't solved yet. Mountain Lion has been released

    six month ago.

Has someone ever had success following the USB-Troubleshooting Guide?

    André

Isn't it sort of disgraceful and beyond comprehension that Line6 fails to respond to the issue?

They fixed a problem months ago, but that fix didn't work, or got overruled by a new OS update from apple (I think both were released within the week).

Afterwards I did get messages from Line6 in my support tickets that stated they are working on the problem and expected a fix soon...  That was MONTHS ago. (I think october or early november)

The last few responses from Line6 I got, and apparently more of you are getting, are that they're evading the issue. They ask about USB ports, Hubs, powersupplies etc.
Things that we all know are NOT the cause of this major issue. We have all answered those questions back in July already. Line6 should be aware of the real issue but now they are literally ignoring those facts.

When I asked them, on the support ticket, that I only wished for a confirmation from Line6 that 'Yes, they are aware of the problem and are working on it' to show
that they aren't ignoring it or pushing it under the rug, I haven't received any reponse since then(over a week ago).

I don't know how else to vent my frustration after being a line6 customer for over a decade. I really feel abandoned and it frustrates me to no end. I so want to start recording again
with my PodX3 in Logic, but literally for over 6 months I haven't been able to produce a single clean sound without noises or crackles. Maybe the issue lies also with Apple's OS updates, but we are

customers of Line6 and SHOULD be informed by them, if only to honestly state 'We can't do anything more on this moment, we're waiting for apple to fix some bugs in MountainLion' or something like that.

So what are we left with? Hatefully vent our frustration all over the internet? Abandon Line6 products and move on to other stuff like Apogee?

    I'm spent...

Installed the latest update 7.2.1 and ran a test. At first I thought we had a fix but then the crackling reared its ugly head! Just took longer this time.

Amazing that after all this time we're still dealing with this issue.
