Yep,  you can do that.  There are several ways you can hook the together depending on what you are hoping to achieve.  Just bear in mind that the GR55 requires the hex pickup so it will always be first in your chain of devices unless you use a second regular guitar cable occasionally bypass the GR55.

With both the HD500 and GR55 supporting midi you can control both devices from the Pod if you so choose,  for performance.  Also, with two inputs on the Pod there are huge opportunities to set up patches for guitar,  synth,  modelled guitar or combinations of the three.

Think about how you might want to use it then ask specific questions.  Just bear in mind that you are putting together a complex rig and there will be significant pain in getting it setup just so.

I am a user of the GR55 and POD HD 300. Go to the V-Guitar forum and you will find a mountain of solid info on the GR55. Most players on that forum are using a POD or some other processor along with the GR55. The most important thing to start with is to know that the guitar out of the GR55 is very noisy. I don't use it. I use the two cable method. You can find out more on the V-Guitar forum. Good Luck and enjoy the GR55-LIne 6 HD combination. I love mine!!!

Interesting about the noise on the guitar out.  I have the earlier GR20 and find exactly the same. I would have thought they would have sorted that.  Oh well.

so what do you think i should try with out to much pain thanks??

Well I mentioned it cause in your original post you said that you were still having a love/hate battle to get the right sound from your POD.   I just wanted to make you aware that by taking on another complex product that you were not going to make your life any easier.

Why are you buying the GR55?  It has some cool features that make it attractive but what is it that you are personally hoping to get from it?

Best advice is to keep your expectations simple to start with.   Learn each product individually before burning too much effort trying to combine them.  Start with a couple of basic good patches on the POD, focussing on getting the amp models sounding right and the effects minimal.  Then learn the basic functionality of the GR55 including the guitar modelling and Synth.  Then worry about putting the two together.

When combining two units like this there is a huge amount that can be configured and it is easy to lose control of your setup or become totally bogged down in the tech and toys to the detriment of your music.   It is always better to have  some simple objectives in mind before you dive in.
